Louisiana has a 25 shell limit

I have never heard or read this. I don't know where y'all are getting this from. It isn't in the regs anywhere.

ETA: I just read both the normal hunting regs and the waterfowl pamphlet and see nothing mentioning this. Furthermore, I read several brochures for NWRs in LA and see no mention of it.

It's the black panther of duck hunting.

Speaking of Big Branch have you heard any reports or done any scouting. Had a buddy go scout our hole yesterday and very few birds, not looking good for tomorrow.

i've read a shite-ton of NWR pamphlets, and never saw a shell limit anywhere. Limit was just how heavy my load of waders, guns, dekes and shells was going to be on the two mile hike back to the brake we would be hunting. At the end of the hike, we'd sit on a log and put on the waders, then walk out into the brake and toss out the dekes. Big fat mallards would make the load going back in heavier than going out.

Could've been last season's regs. But as far as I know, nowhere in LA has shell limits. That being said, some people could benefit from said limits.

If you ever hunted South Farm, they tell you that you are limited to one box(25shells)per hunt.

Fact!

I hunted Indian River before and never had the WL&F say anything about shell limits.

I don't doubt they tell you this, but no where is it written down in any published WLF brochures, handouts, etc... that this is the case for anywhere in LA, or on any USFWS publications for NWRs.

Arkansas has quite a few spots that have shell limits, and a few more that need them. With the publicity and flood of out of state hunters (myself included), some of the shooting that goes on is comical.

Cache NWR (as asked by the OP) for example has no shell limit....I have hunted here every year for the past 15 years and it gets worse every time. I have never seen/heard so many people unload on a group of greenheads that are in the ozone and obviously on a mission.

This is why I'm actually in favor of shell limits.

Looks like a west of the Rockies thing too. There's never been such a limit at either Cocodrie or Lac Ophelia.

I swear I have read it in the regs for a NWR in Louisiana. Just picked one up at academy so I'll read and see if I can find it.

Correct. Even with a 15 shell limit, the Metro will never have peace

it is or has been written in the rules of lottery hunts in the past, not sure if it still is.

If you need 25 or more shells to kill 6 ducks maybe duck hunting is not for you..
