Just to clarify, anyone know if 700's bought in the early 80's have any issues? Seems I read something, just don't remember the specifics.

I have a 700 in aught six from about 1982, and it has never had an issue. Probably one of my most accurate rifles too. I generally hunt with my Browning now, but I will still drag it out on occasion.

I bought my rem 700 from a sporting good store in the Slidell mall in 1993. Paid for it and walked around the mall with it in the box for a while. Can't do that these days

I have not had any problems with it

Replacing the XMP trigger - it also isn't just Walmart / Academy guns, I had one from Bass pro that had the XMP trigger that was replaced.

I have the same gun from around the same year. The only trouble I have had was the original trigger pressure was up around 12lbs or something ridiculous.
The Rem 700 is a great gun. I believe the problem is with the new 770's.

By boss's nephew

Because he has a rifle range at his house and I don't have time to mess with it right now

Good to know...I bought one last year, used it all season, then heard about the recall a few weeks before the season. Will send it in in January.

When did you buy yours? What model (ADL, CDL)?

Why? If it has an XMP you are willing to risk it

The only time I have that gun loaded and with the bolt closed is going to and from my stand. Before I go drive back to camp, that bolt is open and round taken out the chamber.

I don't like it, but I know where my muzzle is pointed at all times that gun could go off.

If I had another deer rifle this would be a different story. I would ABSOLUTELY use another one until mine was fixed if I had that option.

I loved my 700 prior to the trigger recall fix. Don't know about it after as I have not shot it.

Thing drove tacks and was sighted in with 5 shots straight out of the box. It was a combo purchase that came with a Bushnell scope from Cabelas. Same scope still on the rifle. Very smooth bolt.

Didn't like the trigger malfunctions people were talking about but we'll see how I like it after the "fix".

This is a remington 700 ADL though, not the 770. I think 700's are much better crafted than 770s.

According to the recall and the MSNBC video, it's the 700 that has the problem. If you havent watched it, you should. I think the original designer even admits there is an issue, but Remington wont fully acknowledge it. (this was before the recall i believe)

Watch the first U tube video I posted. That is another problem. My damn trigger was not the recalled or CNBC one. Supposedly.
