I have an old ATV that is in unbelievably good condition, but financially I don't know if I should fix the speedo before selling/trading it. My father had the 4 wheeler, 2001 Sportsman 400 4x, in his shed (drove the grand kids around mostly) for the better part of 15 years...then he gave it to me. I've put about $700 into it since every damn suspension and steering bushing was shot from just sitting up (the number of grease fittings on these Polaris' are amazing) and I had to get a new gel battery. Thing still has original tires and the plastic looks brand new, but what's the value? I watch ebay auctions and classifieds and I don't see getting much over $2k for this thing no matter what. The speedo is $300. Ugh.

I want to get a used golf cart for tooling around town, so feeding more money to this ATV is tough. Is the phrase, "Everything Works!" worth it in the sale?

I doubt fixing the speedo is going to get you an extra $300 when you sell it. I'd sell as is.

This. That's a nice looking wheeler even for a Polaris.

Who fricking cares how fast you're going on a 4 wheeler? I wish I could get a blank for it so there simply isn't one.

Wouldn't fix.

Whoever buys that Polaris will be amazed that the Speedo is the only thing not working.

I've been watching Sportsman and craigslist for a decent used bike for hunting, and it seems that nobody keeps 4 wheelers stock anymore. Lifts, new wheels, snorkels, etc seem to be the norm. Where can one find just an ordinary ATV?

Same goes for golf carts, you almost can't find a stock one.

Where do you plan on putting it up for sale. I might know a guy who wouldn't care if the speedometer is broken as long as that's all that is wrong with it.

Very sorry if this violates any rules. I know you can't post stuff for sale here but not sure about this scenario.

I live on the coast in Mississippi (BSL). I was actually going to put it up for trade 1:1 golf cart up in Diamondhead, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I have a nice trailer for it so I'm mobile, but yea it's perfect outside of the speedo.
