Vision Grills Kamado......

So, I think Ive got the wife on board to adding a ceramic grill to my cooking arsenal....
However, she cannot wrap her mind around dropping a grand or more into this.
Extensive research has led me to Vision Grills Kamado. I missed the chance this weekend to get it on sale for $599. Ragerts.
It seems like it is a solid deal on a great grill. One friend of mine owns one and vouches for it.
Any OB folks have one? First hand opinions?

I have the small one that came bested into the stainless grill I bought at sams a couple years ago. Cooks really well I just can’t get this one to go real low. Maybe I am putting too much coal though

Bought the Sam's vision a couple of years ago... Not 1 regret. Got the floor model for 499. Purchased an accessory pack that included deflector, pizza stone, ignitor Ash tray etc for another 50 bucks on sale. Unbelievable deal and cooks great. Ruined the seal on the third cook and replaced it with high temp seal. Do it you won't regret it. Bought the pit boss version for my dad last year.. well built also. Saw it today at Costco.. 599 I believe!

This. Got it for an avviversary present. Use it just as much as the gas grill.

Got y’all all beat.. I got a brand new BGE xl for 100 at Hudson’s dirt cheap. Look like someone got it and tried to put it toget but failed and just took it back. Missing a few parts but All the ceramic parts top and bottom were good. I had to order a new ring for a 70 bucks and some felt for the lid for about 15 bucks. Best deal I’ve ever gotten on anything

My dad is picky and cheap, but my whole family got me an Egg for my 30th bday and then my dad went out and tried 2 or 3 other models and still wishes he got the egg.
The difference in my use in the Egg and my dad's and some friends other cheaper brands, is as said temperature control and sealing them off. The less expensive brands do come with some pretty solid accessories though. My old neighbor had the one with the spiral valve on the bottom I can't remember the brand, and his charcoal would never go out so it would always burn all the way through. Basically it never sealed well.
My egg seals without issues every time.
My whole point of this was simply to say I do think you get what you pay for with Ceramic grills. If you can deal with some issues to save money, go for it. If you can't, think hard about that.

I agree that you get what you pay for. However the vision will hold low temps for as many hours as I've required. I frequent egg head forum and follow many recipes and cook times with no problems. 2 years in with the vision and have zero complaints. Can't imagine what the Green egg or kamado Joe can do that I can't do with the vision.

This is exactly what my buddy has said.
I greatly appreciate everyone's feedback.
My OP clearly demonstrated I'm leaning towards the Vision Grills.
I've had a hard time finding complaints on the quality.

You can find an egg at the right place for around 7. It’ll have a lifetime warranty. Not sure what other brands offer on warranty, but BGE stands by there product. Over time the ceramic WILL crack. I’ve had my egg for 6 years. BGE has replaced the firebox and bottoms portion of egg when cracked. It’s something to consider. You get what you pay for.

Checking the warranty is solid advice.
My big brother has the BGE and cannot stop boasting his love for it.
I will compare before purchasing.

Looks like lifetime on ceramic parts. Not transferable to new owners

I have had the Classic B Series for 4 years. I honestly haven't had any problems out of mine, and it has served me well. As for accessories though, I mostly use the BGE accessories as they are higher quality than the Vision. Other than that, I would buy one again.

Better keep the receipt/proof of purchase. They tried to get out of replacing the small ceramic inner liner on mine. Went round and round with them till they caved.

I have had one about 4 years. Bought from sams. It is the classic B. I use it ALL THE TIME. i've done pizzas, ribs, brisket, steaks, chicken, turkey, you name it.
I find that vision makes a great grill but really lacks in the accessory dept. i bought a Large BGE platesetter as my heat deflector. I can flip it legs up to hold a pan for smoking or flip it legs down and sit a pizza stone on it for pizzas. I bought a kamado joe pizza stone. I have the kick ash basket and a BGE cast iron grill grate.
I give my grill a 10/10. Also, the customer service has been excellent!
