vibrio vulnificus- paging OB Doctors

Anyone here know someone who has had it? I went to GI this weekend and I have developed a blister type sore on my toe. At first I thought it was a blister, but I have a much smaller sore that is very similar on my hand. I guess it's probably nothing, but it's got me a little nervous.

I saw a post on Facebook with pics of someone who spent time in the water at GI last weekend. It looked like a bad rash with a few small blood blisters embedded In it. The post was by a friend of one of my Facebook friends. In the post they said he was on his way to the doc. If they post any further info I'll let you know.

I got horned by a shrimp a few weeks ago and my whole hand swelled up after a few days, looked like fat alberts hand. Thought I caught the vibrio. Got a shot and some antibiotics and it went down after about a week

How big is it, is it hot, swollen etc. If there is a red bordering, outline it with a pen so you can watch the progression. If it rapidly spreads with high temp at site, swelling and redness. You are going to need antibiotics. Usually vibrio spreads fairly quickly Do NOT ignore it.
ETA: just now seeing pics. Doesnt look bad but just keep an eye on it. Antibiotic ointment may help. Most experiences Ive had is people getting cut around oyster reefs. Just outline it and keep tabs.

im no expert in any way.. but its my understanding it spreads FAST, and you would prob get fever also. Beings so many days i doubt you have it

Wold any old ER be able to diagnose it? Meaning, I live in Walker... should I go to an ER in BR?

I just started feeling like I had a blister yesterday. Which is weird because I don't get them. Amd this is pretty gnarly looking.
Other than that though, I feel fine.

do you have fever? If not you probably dont have it but might have an infection of some sort

Good to hear. I'll outline it and monitor it for sure. Any other time, I would.just ignore it, but something about "flesh eating bacteria" got my attention.

If it was me, Id wait and just watch it for the next couple of days.

again i have no clue other than what i have read on it... but beings you were there this weekend. And thats all you have, with no fever.. you should be fine

That's what I'll do. I don't want to overreact, but I don't want to ignore it either. I'd hate to lose a toe or a foot because I was lazy. I've grown attached to them over the years.

You'll have 9 toes left, dont see what the big deal is

Do you have any underlying medical conditions, like liver issues? Or are you immunocompromised in anyway? Specifically overweight/obese, Diabeetus, substance abuse issues? If you can answer yes to any of those then you should be concerned. Very rarely does vibrio (which in itself is surprisingly uncommon) cause any problems in a healthy adult.
As for the picture, it does not look like something I would be concerned about if it were on my foot.
Good on you for cutting those toe nails before snapping the picture though

I'm fat, if that's what you're asking. But other than that, I'm good.
Ha, had to cut them yesterday. Too much GI funk up in there.

my girlfriend is a hairdresser and she says that if you keep gnawing that big toenail so short, you are gonna get an ingrown toenail....just sayin...

Already had two cut out. I believe once they cut them back, you pretty much can't get them again.
Hairdressers know about toenails?

I have an ex girlfriend that was a hairdresser and she knew about hair, toenails, skin, home remodeling, fishing, automobile upkeep, gardening, politics, history, psychiatry, running a business, rocket science, brain surgery, etc.
Notice I said ex.
