Probably but they're heavy as hell compared to the others and it's still a Remington.

I have an A5 and love how light it is. Shoulders well too. Can't go wrong with any of them though.

I've always heard the Versa Max was one of the softest 12 ga shooting shotguns out there?

Probably up there, yeah.....whenever it works.
I've sent mine back twice to replace the entire chamber because it would stick... and my dad is a gunsmith so the gun was cleaned appropriately and often.
I just think Remington of old is far far gone and they've replaced it with shite.

If you want to save a little money check out the Browning Silver. They've got the slightly elevated rib, unlike the Gold's and A5's. NEVER hung up on me and soft shooting for a 3.5".

I went with a versa over a franchi intensity, haven't been able to use it enough to say either way but so far so good. The early VM had issues that I think have been fixed.

I went to the store to buy an a400, walked out with an SX3 and I love it. 2 seasons so far and no issues whatsoever.

I have a SBEII, A400, and M2. The Benelli M2 is my favorite by far. It is a little lighter than the SBEII and to me much better balanced than any other gun I have shot. It does great with low powered shells and super easy to clean. It doesn't shoot 3.5", but I am a firm believer that 3.5" are not beneficial anyway.

From the list, SBE II all day.

However, I love my Beretta A400 and would pick it over all others. Then again, I am a huge Beretta homer.

Don't get me wrong but what does your dad being a gunsmith have to do with you cleaning a shotgun?

ETA: I don't feel like being an arse today, since it's Friday.

Basically the point I was trying to make was that the gun was taken care of and it still had issues.
