Do any of y'all use a GoPro when on your hunts or fishing trips? I'm thinking of picking up one as a Christmas present and mounting it on my shotgun or fishing pole to show off my outdoor prowess.

Generally looking for any ideas as to accessories and if they're worth the trouble.

I use mine while fishing. We either use the head mount or attach it to the gaff when fishing offshore. I like the perspective that the head mount gives the most. Also, the chest mount is pretty cool too.

I've got this mount. It's pretty handy.

I was thinking about a head mount. That seems like it would be the best perspective.

I was thinking about placing it on the fishing pole, but that probably would miss the action in the water. A tripod would be useful, too. I'm about to spend so much money.

Whats your favorite way to use it? Clamp it to the boat or around the blind?

I'm getting one for christmas. Want it mainly for my speargun. Probably use for some bow hunts as well, maybe kayak fishing some too and just other randoms activities. Might test run it skiing right after christmas

I'm hoping to be able to put mine to use over the holidays with some duck hunting and maybe a quick fishing trip.

So hopefully I can post some results pics/vids in a few weeks.

I got a Sony a little while back. Used it fishing and got no usable footage other than boat ride. I had a head mount and didn't aim it correctly.
I used it on a duck hunt this morning and it did better, but kind of hard to see the birds. Did work pretty good though. Going to try it tomorrow, more sunshine so we'll so. No zoom is pretty limiting.

Got one mount on my bow. Haven't recorded any kills yet but target practice recording got me excited

I clamp it on the windshield on my console when I'm fishing. That gives a full view of the front deck. When hunting, I just clamp it on a tree or bush (above and behind me if I can).

I would recommend getting a couple of spare batteries and make sure you buy a high quality memory card

That jaw clamp mentioned for sure. Maybe a head mount or chest mount. Want to get a few spare batteries and charger. And a picatinny rail mount, going to put a small section of rail on my speargun and use that to mount it to the gun. I want a floaty back door as well. Pelican case to keep the stuff in. May end up getting a suction cup mount as well.

Not all at once, obviously Jaw and extra batteries to begin with, and figure out which mount is best for the ski trip.

I want to make a homemade rodholder mount for kayak/offshore too at some point.

I rigged a head mount out of a headlight strap and some electrical tape to see if I would like it while hunting. It bothered the shite out of me.

It all looks easy and fun ........it's a pain in the arse. Just enjoy the moments and quit trying to recapture them . Way more trouble that they're worth IMO. Sold both of my gifted GP's to a TV show host.

Not looking to be the next Michael Bay. I just want to have a few videos of me doing things to look back on when I can't do them anymore many years in the future.

Plus, it would be cool to show my future kids footage of me when I was young.

Meh. I like taking photo/video outdoors damn near as much as actually hunting and fishing. I mostly want it for my speargun. When I'm not poor I intend to get a DSLR to bring with me.

Only use I have for the head mount is to play with it on the ski trip, and maybe some diving eventually. I don't intend to use it hunting much. Clamp to the stand or a screw in hook above the stand on some bowhunts perhaps.

The editing is what is really time consuming to me. I don't have enough patience for it.
