Update page 3; Dog can't move back legs.

Got a 3 year old beagle that hunts really good. Went Saturday morning and hunted for four hours. Put the dogs back in their pen and fed them after the hunt. Yesterday went to feed them and Bear couldn't stand up. Took him out of the pen and he just drug around his back two legs. He can wag his tail and doesn't show any signs of pain when I move his legs. Don't see any swelling or cuts anywhere on him. Gonna wait a few days and see if it gets any better. What are some things that can cause this besides a broken back?

Did you check his paws? They might be hacked up too bad for him to stand on them.
Might end up costing you a .22 bullet. Good luck.

I'd bring him to a vet. Could be hip displacia or maybe a pinched nerve. Idk as I'm not a vet. Sorry for the joke, but you could always rename him Joe. Joe is pretty damned badass.

I'd give him a few days. Maybe he'll get back his movement.

Check for ticks. My dog got tick paralysis from a bite. Ver put on steroids and kept overnight. Was good as new

If it isn't ticks, take him to the vet today, if he's worth a damn.

tick on the spine will shut down a dogs legs. Happened to my lab. Tick and flea dip solved the problem
Hell a tick on the spine will take down a horse. Fact Jack

I'll look for ticks today. Looked for snake bite but didn't see anything. Sounds like the tick would have to be on his spine.

disc problems
only way to know for sure is a knowledgeable vet or MRI

MRI?
Give home a good shot of steroids and crate him. If he don't get better then take his collar off and shoot him.

Tick doesnt need to be on the spine, its the venom that causes the problem. My dog was bitten on his front shoulder when it happened

Thanks for all the suggestions. Gonna check for ticks and give him till Saturday. Anyone got a 22 bullet they can spare me, can't seem to find any round here.

maybe a pinched nerve
If he ran hard yesterday could be swelling pinching off a nerve. Sort of like sciatic nerve problems in people.

Oh he ran hard. He earned the name bear cause that's what it sounds like coming through the briars when he's in there. Fast as hell too. Gonna suck to put him down.

Might be worth a trip to the vet if he's real good and doesn't get better in a few days.
