I posted this on the tech board, but figured the OB would appreciate these pics. Had an oh shite moment while flying my drone this past weekend. There were thousand soldiers of geese in the fields below. I was a couple of hundred feet up when these guys made an appearance.

Sorry, they were just some screen shots from the video. I should have put that in the original post.

Are those geese on the ground or decoys

I get your wit and humor. Are you sure we aren't long lost twins?

OP, Chad is self proclaimed resident OB a hole btw

Same. Someone did this a few months ago...never could get it to play either.

cool pictures, I had a hawk strike at and miss a mini drone I had (no camera) then a few days ago I saw a bald eagle fly over and I ran and got the drone to film and saw no sign of it.

Also, be careful flying a drone near eagles, there is a pretty hefty fine for disturbing them.

What model drone are you using? Have been wanting to get into flying them for a while but I don't know jack about them.

It the DJI Mavic. I had a smaller, cheaper beginner drone before that was a pain in the butt to fly. This thing is idiot proof. I just need to get better at smoother turns while filming and how to adjust picture and video settings.

I just got my Mavic Pro and am still figuring out how to use it. Still makes me nervous to fly it out of site. That home button is nice though. Pretty crazy the technology involved in those things.

It is going to be perfect for scouting our fields for turkey this spring.

I just try to keep it high above the trees and I figure Inwont have any issues. It gives you a warning for damn near anything that could possibly go wrong. I am getting braver with each flight. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I got a personal articles policy from star Farm that covers crashes, fly always, and theft. All of that for $65 annually.

Does the military use a similar drone? One kinda like that flew over my foodplot treetop high last week, near Camp Shelby, MS. I did not get a good look obviously.

If it was someone scouting for deer, I'm sure they won't be back....

I wouldn't imagine the military uses the Mavic Pro. They probably have much bigger drones that are capable of much more.

It had a similar shape, but it looked about 2-3 ft long, about 1/3 that in width. Quiet. It sounded like a gust of wind coming and made me look up, no motor or "chopper" noise at all.
