My results on a highly pressured area:

First weekend I thought I had some roosted, only to hear no gobbling or see any fly down. Started the run and gun, and finally turned one over at 11:00. Called him up only to have him spot me in some open woods at about 60 yds. Fail

Returned back the next weekend to the same spot - gobbler was shaking the treetops before daylight. Hen flew down right in my face and a jake dropped out and left. Big boy stayed put until 7:45 and gobbled at least 50 times in the tree, even though I had only called to him twice. When he finally flew down he made a big circle and came in after 45 minutes. At 8:30 I was tagging him in my mind as half my pattern went in a small tree between us. He flew off as I was cussing myself. Failure of epic proportions.

Gave that spot a rest while unsuccessfully trying other areas the next couple of weekends.

This past Saturday I decided to go back to the Fail spot and try one last time. Waited probably a little too long before leaving the road. Was hoping to hear him gobble on the tree - dumb move. As I got to within 150 yards of where he had originally roosted a turkey bailed out directly overhead. Pissed off, I continued in and set up blind. Soft called about 15 minutes after daylight and heard a turkey fly down out in front of me. The woods were thick and I stayed quiet trying to make him look for me. I did hear some clucking at one point but never heard one gobble. It's hard to hunt a turkey that wants to stay quiet, so . . . another FAIL.

I consider my season a success in the fact that I did have some close quarters action a few times, and that's really what it's all about to me. Ole boy will be older and smarter next year - probably too damn smart for me, but I'll still be chasing him.

This is the first season in probably 10 years in which I did not get to go on one hunt.

Not even go out for a morning listen.

We have one more week here. But, so far, I've only been 3 times. I heard one turkey gobbling, and he was a mile away across a huge gorge. Shitty year in N. AL.

Called one in for my 9yr old daughter during youth weekend in Ark. Young bird. 7" beard, 1/2" Spurs.

Never been much of a turkey hunter, that was only the 2nd gobbler I've called in. But man was it exciting when he came thundering in. Mainly because she kept asking when can I shoot lol. I got it on video as well.

Of course now I'm addicted. I've been chasing them the last couples Saturday's but unable to find another dumb one. One more shot this Saturday.

Made 4 hunts. Got on 2 birds opening morning gobbling good but had hens with them. No luck. Next 3 hunts didn't hear a bird, but managed to kill a decent one by just sitting and soft calling on a pipeline. 8 in beard 1 in spurs bout 18lbs

Not much of a turkey hunter, but shot one while driving around filling feeders Easter weekend.

First season since 2007 that I didn't get a bird. No private land access this year and didn't draw any public land permits. So FL was a bust from the start. Didn't even get a hunt in here.

Did get a few days in while visiting a friend in GA. He may have overestimated how many turkeys they had on his lease. We hunted for 3 days and didn't see a single bird. We did get into some coyotes so that was still fun.

Will get after them next year.

It's not over for me, but I've had a good year. Hunted a good bit, called in a couple for people, killed my share, gonna hunt Friday - Sunday for one last push before my 10.5 month depression period.

Had a good season. Went this morning... Ole gobbler across the road from me must have gobbled 15 times. Never could get him to cross the road. Of course he's on someone else's property.
Week after Easter took a nice bird. 10"beard
Spurs probably an inch at least. Didn't measure them.

Since when is there a such thing as someone else's property when turkey hunting? Lol

Killed 1 it took 4 days in a row to get him to gobble but when he got ready it took about 15 minutes and he was in my lap.. I would see him everyday and know where he would roost but he never would gobble in the mornings finally on the 4th day I didn't go out untill 11 and it was misting rain but he answered the first Yelp and 3 other times before he was 20 yards.. Dem some strang animals I tell ya!
