True....

And I bet you can get out of it about a year later for under $20k

When was the last time Ford had an issue with transmissions? Or are you just talking out your arse?

Dodge/Ram is the best bang for the buck. Toyota will likely hold value the best, but they are pricey. Ford is never a bad choice, but tough to get good value because the new aluminum trucks had a price increase across the lineup.

This.

I'm a toyota guy, but the redesign of the hemi 5.7 was the quietest game changer in history.

Had a crew cab 4x4 for almost a month when I was moved. I averaged nearly 30 on the mpg gauge and 26 hand calculated.

I got bettwr mileage in that than I did in the Dart that followed it.

Just run 0w30 or 0w20 in the motor and it'll treat you right to 200k.

I do miss the mpg and ride in my goat. It was time to trade up and I couldn't beat the deal on my Tundra. I will prob stick with Toyota because I think they'll soon make the upgrades nessecary to be even or lead the market. Best bang for buck = Goat

Tt34, I don't know anything about Fords. The last one I had that I liked was a 76 bronco, the 84 bronco 2, was a big, little, smelly, city boy, pos. Also, a 70 something half ton liked to have bankrupted me.
IMO, ford has the best lookin' trucks on the road, but after running em' ALL, the yota is hard to beat in the end. NASCAR has as fine a lookin' and driving truck that my fat arse has ever sat in,, it's a dodge, I just had bad experiences with my last dodge about 20 years ago,, I'm sure that those problems have been taken care of. It's all pretty much personal preference now. I think the gaps have narrowed, just like in guns, bows, 4 wheelers, etc.

I'm kinda disappointed with my F150. I'm not sure if I'd buy another. It's a 2012 eco Lariat 4x4. 4x4 and the locker have always been solid, and I've had no problems with the eco, but the quality control on those trucks is garbage.

I got leather seats and my driver's seat was destroyed after 20k miles. I figured it wouldn't be a problem to replace under warranty, but they fought me tooth and nail over that. Now it's at 50k miles, and the seat is demolished again. I'm talking like faux-leather peeling off the seat kind of stuff. My backup camera works like half the time. It started going out around 35k miles. For what a new one costs, I'm just gonna wait until I can afford an aftermarket one and go that route. The panelling on the dash is really cheaply made too. I got scratches all over the silver dash panel from things that should not scratch dash panels. The paint is also terrible. It chips like nothing. All of that is just aesthetics, but if you're gonna pay for what Fords cost these days, I think it's pretty fair to expect more than that.

I had a Tacoma before the Ford, and there weren't nearly as many "options" on it as the 150 has, but I never had any issues with the quality of the truck. It's also possible that Ford fixed all this with the newer model 150s, because from what I read online my problems were pretty common. Regardless, I'll probably go back to Toyota after this.

ETA: I'm also a big fan of the Hemi, just not a fan of how Dodges look.

That ride though.

Whoever thought people would be bragging about the interior and ride of a dodge

Even worse... The new trans is almost the best in a half ton. So damned smooth. I'm still partial to the aisin though.

No doubt. Smooth riding truck.

My 150 rides well too. They have a really bad roll in turns stock, but I put 5100s on it and they made all the difference in the world.

This truck though....

That's pretty much what I've come to think after 50+ years of drivin' stuff..

so what i've gotten out of this thread so far:
fords=expensive, good lookin, popular
toyotas=expensive, quality, great re-sale, durability
dodge= best bang for the buck, great engine, and based on some people's personal opinion it's not the best lookin

thanks for the input

Id agree 100%.

I trade my trucks in before 100k, so I drive Fords. Never had any doubt that they could make it, but I would rather pay more for features than one that will last 200k.

Dodge rides smooth until you put 400-500 lbs in the bed. Then you bottom out the soft suspension and it rides like shite

Fair assessment, but I would say the Dodge is the best looking truck, but I wouldn't buy on looks ever.

I have a crew cab 4x4 sport, with leather, navigation, alpine sound system, and the upgraded hood with the nostrils out the door for 36k at ralph sellers. Sport is basically the fx4 package for ram, least amount of chrome

Meh. No way two grown men in the back of the truck would make the ride rough. Maybe 1000-1500lbs, but what truck wouldnt? And who rides with that much weight all the time?
