Hello guys. I have a Yamaha 150hp 4 stroke outboard on my boat. Took it out yesterday and the trim Up on my throttle and the motor is not working. Trim down does. Any ideas where to start?

Does it work from the switch on the side of the motor?

No. Neither throttle side or motor side. Has power on DOWN but not UP

The switch needs to be replaced.

Up is always the first to quit.

My Yamaha went out at beginning of summer. Turns out the seal on the hydrolic pump was bad and had to be changed out.

Trim relay is probably bad, you can switch the blue and green wires and the motor will go up but not down.

My bet is switch on motor, pretty sure the throttle just ties into that switch. Get out a voltage meter and test at switch.

have a 2011 xpress with an F115. Had the exact same issue. It was the seals. They were leaking and had to be replaced. Works like a charm now.

I'd bet that's your problem. Seen that several times, and that's a good way to test it.

When you hit the trim up switch on the motor, can you hear anything at all? If not, it's probably the relay.

Relay on up side is either bad, corrosion or just poor contact. Take it off clean it up with some electraclean, brake cleaner, carb cleaner. Plug it back in if that didn't fix it then it is probably bad. To check it is the relay unplug the down relay and put on up side if it works you are for sure it is the relay, they sale them online everywhere.
