thought this timely since its grass season. WTH do the environmentalists want people to use on weeds? I'll be glad to go back to diesel. It lasted a lot longer than Roundp.

Glyphosate is a weed killer and the main ingredient in RoundUp. Weed killers are obviously a critical tool for American farmers and farmers around the world. The left-wingers are attacking weed killers despite the chemical receiving a clean bill of health from both the EPA and Europe’s main food safety and chemical authorities.

That's OK. Dicamba will be here shortly to take its place.

You cannot row crop farm without it. Many don't realize that CA is a huge row crop ag state. This will effectively limit or kill their ability to farm. For a state struggling to pay its bills, they sure are killing a large tax base. Of course, most of those farmers are Republicans. So, there's that...

Saw a commercial last night trying to get people to sign up for class action lawsuit against RoundUp

You underestimate the progs. I'm sure there will be a "RoundUp Tax" much like the carbon credit scheme. More transfer of wealth.

There are a bunch of studies on Glyphosate being horrible, which it should be obvious that poison would have negative effects on your health. You shouldn't eat anything that has been sprayed with glyphosate. (As far as food goes, it is time to start considering hydroponics/aquaponics type stuff with greenhouses if you haven't already.) That study linked shows a lot of what glyphosate does and I'm only posting a couple things below.
Adjuvants in pesticides are synergistically toxic with the active ingredient. Mesnage et al.[189] showed that Roundup® was 125 times more toxic than glyphosate by itself. These authors wrote: “Despite its relatively benign reputation, Roundup® was among the most toxic herbicides and insecticides tested.”
The industry dictates that 3 months is a sufficiently long time to test for toxicity in rodent studies, and as a consequence none of the industry studies have run for longer than 3 months. The only study we are aware of that was a realistic assessment of the long-term effects of GM Roundup®-Ready corn and soy feed on mammals was the study by Séralini et al. that examined the effects on rats fed these foods for their entire life span.[261] This study showed increased risk to mammary tumors in females, as well as kidney and liver damage in the males, and a shortened lifespan in both females and males. These effects occurred both in response to Roundup and to the GM food alone. These effects only began to be apparent after 4 months.
Glyphosate is a likely cause of the recent epidemic in celiac disease.
A case study of a 4-year-old girl showed that a genetic defect in arginase could present as pervasive developmental delay not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS) with many similarities to autism.[112] Its manifestations include brain edema and signs of epilepsy, as would be expected with ammonia toxicity in the brain.

Thy spray a small percent of RoundUp on sugarcane before harvest to simulate a freeze. think about how much food we eat that has sugar in it

You seem like you follow this pretty closely but wasn't that the study that was retracted due to questionable testing or animals or something?

All roundup crops get sprayed again right before harvest. It is incredible how much pesticide is used.
How McDonald's potatoes are grown Three and a half minute video on the ridiculous pesticide practice required

I guess we ought to use salt instead? It's all natural and will do a doozy on those weeds, except permanently.

It was retracted, but then some wording was changed and republished. At the bottom there are links to the articles discussing the retraction and republishing. Apparently the results themselves of the study were not in doubt though. Not enough animals seems to have been the original complaint.
If this is the only study done on Round Up of longer than a three month period, which is was at the time there could be others now, then it will of course be hotly contested.

Well all I use Roundup for is to kill weeds. And not on crops. Just fencelines, ditches, etc. Fine, don't use it on food crops, but why try to get rid of it? (Which is the end goal of the movement against Glyphosphate, IMO). It works. Leave it alone.

Roundup is the best thing for agriculture (read: World Population) since the steam tractor

So does diesel but you don't want that on your food

Exactly why I said quit using it on food.
But some want it completely gone. It's stupid.

There's nothing better than RoundUp though. That's the problem No magic bullet that is 100% effective and 100% safe
Posted on 6/27/17 at 11:40 am to Ron Cheramie
If you can find that magic bullet you would be a billionaire

It is here already but does not replace round up. Dicamba kills broad leaf weeds. Still need round up for the grasses.
