Trailer wiring question by marinebiomanOne more quick (dumb) question and I think I am all set. Whats the best way to remove an inch or so of insulation from the main wire? I have a stripping tool but I have only ever used it for the ends of wires. How do you actually REMOVE a section of insulation?

Very carefully

That's always my issue too. Stripping the insulation without cutting the inner copper. I usually just use a razor blade but I also end up messing up a fair share of them too.

Take the wire stripper, choose the right slot for the gauge wire you are using. Squeeze it down on both of you 1" ends. This should cut the insulation all the way around on both ends. With a razor blade cut a straight line between the two rings. Peel the insulation off. Practice on some scrap pieces if you have them.

Different material, so they behave differently. Either way, you're gonna have or develop a gap between the two wires going into one butt connector side.

If it was my shite, I'd just twist them all together because it's trailer wiring. It's gonna frick up soon anyways
