JD 790 compact tractor. I was bush hogging and a limb knocked a hose off the bottom the tractor and it pumped out a bunch of fluid. It took about 3 gallons to get it back on the dipstick but nothing works. Steering, FEL, 3 pt., nothing. Any ideas? Thanks!
Got her working! Thanks fellas!

Sounds like you have a bunch of air in the pump/lines.

That's what I was going to say

That's what I was thinking. I let it sit over night, fluid still full this morning, but nothing works. It don't even make any noise like the pump cavitating. That's what's got me puzzled.

Take it by your local co-op or contact a local JD about it.
You may just need a hydraulic hose replaced

I would try to work some of the hydraulics by hand to force air out of the cylinders...that is, turn the steering wheel to the stops in each direction, raise and lower the 3 pt hitch by hand, etc.

I've done that a little bit. Didn't want to do that a bunch without getting some advice first.

I'm asking because I don't know but would he need to loosen a line to bleed the air?

if you have the tools and the ability, you may want to see if you can crack a line on the outlet side of the pump to see if anything at all is flowing.

SHE'S ALIVE!!! Just went to see if I could bleed a line, but cycled the steering wheel a few times first and she came to life!! Guess I just didn't do it quite enough. Rather be safe than sorry. Thank y'all!!!

You have to bleed the air out of the hydraulic system

hate to see anyone have to get the dealership involved for anything like that....glad she is working, man!
now, go out and cut some grass while it is still steamy and hot outside.
ETA: don't forget to top off your hydraulic fluid, it may have dropped a bit when you burped the air out of the system.
