Tour guides feeding wild gators

I like to fish in a small pirogue (a lot of cypress knees in the area) and these swamp tour guys are always feeding chicken to the alligators right on top of my fishing hole. I've tried to tell them this eliminates the natural fear that gators have of humans, as they will start to associate us with food. How do they not know this puts people and the gators at risk? Or do they not give a damn?

Well most depend on the tips generated by giving the customers a good time. They see a gator and feed it or even handle one $ is good.

I know it generates revenue, but its unethical IMO. It makes me think these yahoos don't know the first thing about conservation

west pearl,Honey Island swamp is full of sacs. Nice haul. Let the tour guides earn a living. Plenty places to fish without getting upset with guys trying to earn a living.

Intentionally feeding alligators is a death sentence for the gator.

Just because it's the OB doesn't mean I have to take up for some a-hole feeding gators cause he makes a buck off it. It's illegal to feed gators in St Tammany for exactly this reason. If he's in that parish I hope someone calls the law on your dumbass friend.
