I love when people say "it's a truck. Who cares about gas mileage".

ETR and possible criticism of Tundras. Sorry. Won't happen again.

I sold my 2009 F150 this weekend with 120k Miles for $12k.

The only issue I ever had out of that truck was a power steering leak and door lock actuator.

I would wait until 2019 to get a Tundra. They have not changed a bit since 2007, which basically means you are paying new truck value for a 13 year old truck.

That's not anywhere close to being true. They're is was a new body style out 2 or 3 years ago.

Not only that, how do you get 13yrs from 2017 to 2007?

I'm a Tundra fan, nothing but good things from me.

However, the slight body updates are not enough to call it a new truck. Powertrain is the same and the body is VERY similar.

2014+ look better, but they still look close to the 2007s.

Was primarily talking about the engine, but a lot of the interior is very dated, too.

True about 13 v. 10. That was dumb on my part

Edited to remove any criticism of Toyota. Sorry if I offended. Was not my intention. They are about to revamp in 2019, so if I were leaning that way I would wait until 2019. That was the purpose of the post. Not to criticize your beloved truck.

What's this revamp in 2019 you speak of for Tundras? I got a '14 and will probably hand it off to my son about that time so curious about this although complete overhauls of a model take a few years to work the kinks out.

If we don't get any news around February of a redesign at the auto shows, it'll be the same Tundra again.

but those same people will complain that diesel gets worse MPG than gas and cost more

next truck I get is a used f250 or 2500 if the price is right when I start looking sometime next year... if not, its between ford and GM. I honestly don't like the tundra interior and oh, I don't like getting shite for MPG either.

I've never understood this criticism at all. Its one thing if the truck sucks, but if its a proven workhorse who cares? You either like it, or not. But the year it was made, how old the design is, how often its been updated, etc. just don't freaking matter unless all you care about is looks.

If all you care about is looks, go buy the damn truck you like and forget all the research.

Toyota stays in their lane, they produce a quality vehicle that has proven reliability. They update it sparingly, which keeps reliability high.

Ford and Chevy are focused on the technology side, and putting in bells and whistles, which seems to work with most consumers, it's all they care about.

I would never buy a truck for looks, but that is just me. With that said, I own a F150 now, and it's doing OK. I would have bought a Tundra, but the cost was too high, and I don't drive it every day.

I've had a Tacoma and an F150 and loved them both. My 06 F150 has 177k without a major garage visit. If I were buying today I would slightly lean towards the Tundra because I'm not a huge fan of the front end on the new Fords.... but I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Well, the Tundra won. Went with a white 1794.
