Tundra is made in Texas. GMC and Chevy are made in Mexico

Rated to tow 11,300

With about 15 lbs of tongue weight twice a year.

I will start liking fords WAY more when they put some damn springs in them. They're built to cushion your arse rather than move big heavy shite.

And Ford in Michigan. You forgot that last part. Oh, the Ford profits stay in America. Where is Toyota based out of?

Downshift, while lots of trucks can do it, very few are rated to do it.

Fords got the half ton ratings no doubt, but I think the 11k number is being a little generous. It's got plenty power, but anything over 10 should be reserved for 3/4 tons IMO. Half tons just don't have the frame, brakes, or suspension to handle pulling that regularly.

Eta: and the OP had a Tacoma. Don't think 10k + lbs is a concern of his

It's no secret that most trucks can yank around 10k. The problem is what you said, stopping the aforementioned 10k. The only real difference between the F150 and the Tundra is that I can tow higher amounts, legally.

Everybody needs to pull 10k,they just don't know it yet.

Mines rated for about 6k I think and I've pulled 20k with it before.

Do I recommend it? frickkkkkk no. It can do it though. Probably took 50k miles of life out the transmission.

I pull around twice the rated load with it a few times a year. If the tongue weight is reasonable you can drag some giant shite with a half ton truck.

I have air bags on mine which helps a ton, but you still definitely know you're catching hell. I wish they'd lower the tow ratings on those fords just because you have to know what you're doing to pull 10k with a half ton. They're too light for that.

And 95% of drivers have no business touching 5k pounds much less 11k

That number did have a catch to it, not sure if that's changed now...

Used to be that only a regular cab, long bed f150 with V8 power, 3.73(?) gears, and a gooseneck setup could tow the advertised 11,000+

If I had to guess, that has changed now...but the towing wars between the big 3 have always been gimmicky.

F150, crew cab, 4x4, 6.2, 3.73.

The Ecoboost can do the same weight with 3.55 gears. Two motors rated over 11k ain't too shabby. But yes, gimmicky.

Downshift, I pulled a 11k 5th wheel from BR to Disney. That 1/2 ton hated me after that drive and I hated it back. And, it was only a 2009 5.4 F150.

I've never looked at the towing ratings on any truck I've ever owned. I just put shite in a trailer and pull it.

With my current truck, I have pulled a D37 Komatsu dozer on a 40' gooseneck so that was probably pushing 20k lbs.

They can all do it.

I'm like josey. I never check that shite. When I have to pull something I hook to it and pull it.

Pulling 11k with a half ton and 11k with a 3/4 or 1 ton is soooooooooo much different. You still feel in control with a 3/4 ton. With a half ton it's like controlling a crash the whole time

They just don't have the frame strength or the weight for it.

I think a D37 weighs over 20 by itself and a 40' gooseneck is probably around 5k

I like how the new trucks are rated for almost 30k. Sit back and add up what it takes to make 30k pounds. That's just getting ignorant.

Yeah, figured it had changed and the crew cab could tow 11000+ now. I haven't really kept up with stuff like that in a few years...

As others have said, I don't really care how much they tow because the most I tow is a 5/6000 lb boat every now and then.

That's why I use my truck for the ATVs and other small toys. The Ram 3500 gets the tractors and goosenecks.

Similarly, my truck is often used to pull out said 3500 truck when dad wants AC instead of riding the ATV around the farm.

Which brings us to another point. Anything bigger than a half ton is horrible for more than wet grass. A one ton diesel is doing good to not get stuck in grass with morning dew on it.
