Tom Gordon of Hells Bay and Islamorada boatworks fame is building a new skiff with one of the original shallow water skiff builders, Chris Morejohn.
I'm not normally into skiffs with this kind of horse power but I've been watching this one closely. It appears to be somewhere in the 60 to 115 hp range, which is great if you fish places like Hopedale or Venice. The hull has some interesting design elements that are different from other skiffs. I think this boat is going to be a great boat for Louisiana and will have enough horsepower to harass the trouts in the bigger bays and lakes.

IM a big fan of the shallow V. Does the rounded V in the front make for a louder boat than a boat with a straighter line going into the water?

Depends on the chine design. If this hull is anything like their previous hulls, it will be a deadly quiet boat at rest.

Hmmmm......Know Tom and Chris from back when I first came to Florida and both are fine people. Tom is an excellent builder though, it's just my opinion Hell's Bay will always have a better designed skiff and superior materials.
If you look closely it looks eerily similar to the Hell's Bay Marquesas which HB cane out with after Tom was gone.

It's my understanding that his hull is a Chris Morejohn design, but given that this style of boat isn't my cup of tea I haven't really dug into the specifics. I think Chittum is building a new skiff that's not quite as pricey as their other boats, so I half way expected Tom Gordon to do the same.
I'm into low hp, light weight, tiller skiffs, I wouldn't know a marquesas if one appeared in my driveway.

Chittum skiffs mostly start around 55k and go up from there.
HB has a number of skiffs like you prefer.....Chris the owner of HB's favorite skiff is tiler skiff with I think a 40 or 50 max......It's awesome and poles like a dream
Google Hell's Bay Marquesa pics.....it's a sweet boat for bigger water.....

I already have an early tiller whipray but I have been toying with the idea of selling her before the HB bubble bursts. Read a few rumors of Chittum building a "budget" skiff to compete with some of the more technical poling skiffs. I was hoping the new hull out of Islamorada would be in that same category but it looks like they went with more a flats boat rather than a technical poling skiff.

I see you use this terminology often. Care to explain the difference?

I would consider a technical poling skiff to be something light weight and designed to be poled all day. Low free board, low hp, quiet, ect ect.
So Hells bay whipray, glades skiff, both poling skiffs. East cape glide, mavrick hpx, beavertail micro. Poling skiffs.
East cape vantage, hells bay Marquesas, BT3, and the such I consider flats boats.
Everyone probably has their own definition and I'm sure it varies from boat to boat. I just don't consider a boat with 115hp to be a poling skiff.
