always in the way
When a power pole is down it isn't in the way. Unlike the Talon. You really didn't think this through.

It's all about he depth of water where you fish most often.

Try fishing in the wind and stay on the fish while dancing on the trolling motor. Much easier to drop the power pole cover the area and move on.

Then go with the trolling motor. They have to be nice, wish I had got one.

I used a hand control for years but got tired of fighting with it so I got a foot control. I like that I don't have to take my hand off my rod to maneuver the boat. But what the deciding factor for me was I fell in the lake while trying to grab the handle on the trolling motor and hit a stump with the main motor at the same time.

yes.
I use one, makes holding your position much easier especially when you're right up on some cover or in an area where you don't want to spook fish with the trolling motor (like a dead end canal)

quote:The best set up I ever had was hand control with a bigfoot attached. I just kicked the bigfoot to turn it and the speed control was a foot panel. So, I never had to touch anything with my hand yet was not tied to a foot control for turning. I miss that in a bad way.

I have many many times as I used to tournament fish. The problem is when targeting bass I usually fish in 10-20 feet of water. When shallow water fishing I don't want to stay in one spot. I'm not saying it doesn't have its place if I fished a lot in tidal situations but even with that I use a trolling motor.

Is it trashy to just use an anchor?
