Best thing I have ever tried in getting rid of fire ants is to turn over their beds the evening of a hard freeze.

Better than any poison.

Use gas. All ants are dead in 1 second.

Boil a big pot of water. Get a smaller pot with a handle, maybe 1-2 quarts. Fill that pot and pour in over and down into each hill. Couple hours later you'll have a mound covered with dead ants. Works any time of year.

yeah, i have done the gas, the only thing is that it kills the grass and the soil bacteria and takes years for anything to grow it that spot again.

actually had a policeman stop at my house once after I lit about 20 beds on fire in the front yard.........told me my yard looked like a mini-Kuwait. all reminded me it was against the law (to do that).

If you have a mound covered with dead ants, there are still some alive that are bringing the dead to the top

A little dawn dishwashing soap mixed in warm water in a five gallon bucket. Pour over the bed. Repeat once more and they will all be gone. Dawn and water works with any wasp as well

You're not supposed to light the beds on fire.

I've read on here that you can shovel one any pile on top of another and they will kill each other.

Or create a super strong genetically superior race of ants that will eventually take over your yard.

Yeah, I have no understood why people light the ant beds on fire. It is not a lot of gas and it evaporates very quickly. By the time you strike a match all of the ants are already dead.
