The tac is just silly. Get the traditional build.

Will kill anything on 4 legs in the south.

The 6.5 is easy to shoot very accurately, regardless of what others will try to tell you.

Butthurt pussies hate on the 6.5. Hunters make bad shots not guns/bullets

The worst part of buying a 6.5 is mustering up the courage to tell your friends you’re gay

I am actually torn between the .308 and 6.5. Military has always used the .308 round and ammo is more available. I love the look of the Tactical tbh. Everything I've read there isn't a huge difference. My brother in law recommended I buy the 6.5

I am doing a hunt in the Northwest.. Elk, Moose and Black tail.

Bad shots are one thing, bullets are another. The bickering around 6.5CM would end if long range target loads stopped get shot 75 yards at deer standing next to thick shite, but they won’t.

If you are planning on hunting elk and moose with the 6.5 you need to pick another caliber.

.30 caliber minimum.
.300 win mag would be the minimum for me.

If this rifle is for that, then get something lighter weight.

If its just a fun gun or louisiana hunting(4wheeler to stand) then itll be just fine.

For hunting, get a lighter Tikka. Tac A1 is a phenomenal gun but it is very heavy, especially if you have to do any hiking. Get a normal Tikka and get a light scope for hunting. And 6.5 is great. Basically does what the 6.5x55 did for 120 yrs. For hunting either 6.5 or .308 will do what you need. If it was a target gun, I would say 6.5.

For larger game, go with the .308.

If you shoot a 6.5 for elk, etc, go with the 6.5 PRC.

Get a tikka t3 in 300wm if you are planning on hunting those in the near future. The tact is 11 pounds without a scope, you will hate yourself carrying it out west.

The overwhelming majority of tracks that I go on with my dogs are for Rage mechanical broadheads and 6.5 Creedmoor, and I track A LOT of deer. Most of those are shot placement issues though. Pick a bonded bullet that groups well in your rifle, put it a couple of inches behind the front leg, and you'll be fine.
