i am on the side of they share responsibility since they don't have anyone on the river to help out people in need.

Imagine if waterparks and pools just stopped staffing lifeguards.

Is the river tiki's property? How is this any different than a bus transporting a drunk to a bar, the drunk drinks himself under the table, he goes off and dies in an alley from stumbling and hitting his head on a dumpster? You going to sue the bus?

You would sue the bar.

I don't have a dog in this fight. I used to tube the Tangi in high school and we would get silly out there. I would think the parish would have a solid case against Tiki Tubing given the death statistics. Considering the deaths were all related to that business. Even with the people signing the waiver the parish could have grounds to shut the business down.

not technically but they are ferrying and allowing people to park on their property while they're floating down the river.
I can't believe people still frequent this place .

I assumed it was closing a year or so ago when all the for sale signs for the surrounding property went up. Are they trying to get people to buy those big lots with the understanding that tiki tubing shite is gonna remain in your backyard?

That part of the Amite really needs to be designated as scenic to stop all commercial use. Similar to what they did with the Comite. The tubers trash the river every summer and nobody cleans it up. Sure, tiki tubing might send a boat up river to pick up trash but they can't get it all and even if they are picking up 90% of the trash it's still not enough.

I realize the sand bars aren't private property but the adjoining land owners still have to clean up every weekend. You can't just leave a couple thousand beer cans laying around.

But, nobody actually gives a frick so they just keep on keeping on.

You fish a lot...should marinas be responsible for the trash and what happens to fishermen when they launch from their landings?

no. But Tiki tubing is using this stretch of the river for their own profit. I think they hold some responsibility and would like to see them shut down.

I have never been. I think people should be responsible enough not to throw their trash out no matter where they are. If the residents have problems the sheriff should police the river more and get the litter bugs. We don't hold McDonalds responsible for trash on our highways...its the litterers that are responsible.

ban water for everyone...while we are at it ban football since people get hurt and killed playing it also.

I really thought the outdoor board would be against having more restrictions on our freedoms...I am dissappoint

it's very tough to put into words what the patrons of this business do to this beautiful part of the river. You do make some valid points

I have an idea b/c I see tons of trash on most waterways I fish...except Toledo Bend. People fricking suck. Yes I imagine that stretch would be worse than anything I've ever seen.

LPSO is fresh out of fricks to give. Besides, if they start policing the river, they might miss a couple of inspection stickers.

And landings aren't using the waterway/lake to turn a profit with landing fees and selling of goods?
What about beach front condos (privatizing beaches) when a renter drowns in the surf? Should the condo and apparently beach owner be responsible?

I don't think you understand. Yes, almost every activity has deaths related to it. This particular company has been linked to deaths every year since it has been open. If these people who drown were just doing their own thing then that's on them, but that is not the case here. Even if you don't consider the deaths. The litter alone should have this place shut down.

bullshite. They are private property. Property lines extend to the river's edge. Once you get out of the water you are trespassing.

people are drowning on a public waterway...people drown on the tickfaw also...should those businesses close?

Maybe they should sue the beer companies or inner tube companies

Is an attorney. Has to be.

For the record, I don't want them shut down because they let idiots tube and die. I would, however, enjoy them taking responsibility for cleaning that section of the river up.

You are right. People drown on the Tickfaw. Can you link EVERY single drowning to ONE company though?
