They are ok. I think they have that cheap one with the 3 shot 1 moa guarantee. I have only shot the encore in .35 whelen and an older Icon in .270 which was decent. So many other choices out there now though, TC wouldn't be my first choice.

Ventures are good budget rifles.

I have an icon that's about 5 year old. I like it a lot and have had no problems with it

I'm open to suggestions, you seem to be knowledgeable and pretty impartial. Help an old boy out

My venture 7mm has killed many deer and Im very happy with it. It wont break the bank and it does what I want it to do. it has convinced 4 other guys I hunt with to buy one. My paw has an encore in 7mm, 35w, and .50 and they all shoot very well.

Oh. I would honestly try to buy an ER.Shaw for that price. He does good work with Savage actions.

I shoot an encore full time, 7mm, but, retired my 50 barrel and replaced it with 35 Whelen for "primitive" season..

Funny. Ive got a Thompson Venture 300 Win Mag for sale because I need a scope for another rifle. Havent even shopped around to see what I could get for it. If you decide on a Thompson 7mm, lemme know what u pay for it. I won this one w/o a scope and it has never been shot.

I know the icons had full length aluminium bedding, 60 degree bolt throw, and decent detachable mags. All the ones I have been around were MOA guns.

I don't know much about the venture. Its supposed to be an icon with a cheaper stock. But if a company is willing to MOA certify their guns that's more than most manufactures do these days.

The compass looks to be the budget line that everyone is getting on these days.

Midway has a $200 discount on Ruger rifles. $594 I think. They have 7/08
