Got a new Thompson .300 ..... Wanna let my youngest (8 Yr old) shoot it this fall. Plan would probably be deer and hogs. Maybe an occasional Yote.

I haven't shopped for scopes in many many years. What do some of you boys suggest? I don't really have a budget, haven't thought that far in advance. Not really interested in a super expensive scope for my kidos gun tho.

Suggested scope and ball park price?

Something with a really long eye relief.

If he can handle it, awesome but I wouldn't give my 9yo a 300 and expect him to be comfortable with it.

Get him the managed recoil ammo. I would be careful with any 8 yr old and a 300. He will either be scared to shoot or have a serious flinch after. I have an 11 yr old that shoots my dads old 270. We got him shooting with the MR ammo and the little turd shoots better than I do.??

My meopta meostar is so much better than my Nikon buck master it's crazy clear. price is moderate to low considering what you get and in low light it's unbeatable in my opinion
