we are thinking. I can foresee a near future where it will be an issue if a child is allowed to play outside without being completely clothed and covered in deet. This virus is some serious stuff. Now a second species of mosquito has been found to now be carrying this virus the future range of the disease has potentially doubled in the USA. With the confirmed sexual transmission of the virus it will be able to affect people (wives usually) that prefers to stay in-doors. Now they are finding the virus affects individual's brains.....ie, does a lot more than causes birth defects.

I thought the only issue was for pregnant females and those trying to get pregnant. Has something changed?

Welp, time to legalize DDT again, or pursue the genetically modified mosquitos that only produce male offspring. Let's go HAM on the mosquitos. They've been allowed to live for too long.

Yes, it is being linked to an increase in dementia and Guillain-Barré syndrome. Since the virus inhabits the CNS, I suspect it will soon be discovered that it leads to a number of brain disorders. I think this is just the tip of the ice-berg, and I predict it will be fully disclosed during the heat of the next election.

I guess this is meant as a for-warning to all the OB followers, I would really start using some deet or some other precautions....we just dont know how this is going to affect the population and I predict the gov isn't going to tell us till its too late.

USA Today from Arpil 2016

It doesn't look like they are hiding very much. There were 346 cases as of 3 weeks ago and every known case was from someone who had traveled out of country to a Zika known area.

Which means nothing................. As long as your 6 yr old son isnt pregnant while playing outside, everything will be fine

Not a case has been attributed to this yet. This is another Ebola "outbreak" situation, IMO.

Look, I'm not doubting that this is some serious stuff, but in my life, I've seen these "end of the world" scare tactics come and go.

First it was the Mediterranean Fruit Fly, then AIDS, then the Pine Beetle, then global warming, then Ebola... the list goes on and on. These are just a few I can remember off the top of my head.

This too shall pass.

There was a documented death from internal bleeding due to Zika in Puerto Rico. I don't think it's doomsday, but there is more to it than meets the eye. I will still do outdoor stuff, but I don't plan on going to the Olympics this Summer.

West Nile, SARS, bird flu, swine flu, ebola, vibrio,...
Just add zika to the list of diseases blown out of proportion by the media.
It's astronomically more dangerous to drive a car or smoke cigarettes. Tackle heart disease, diabetes, and cancer first, then we'll worry about zika.

Bill is at the camp when Destiny asks him to take her for a ride on the ATV. They grab a beer and a cig and off they go. What is most likely to kill Bill?
A) Zika
B) ATV
C) Cig
D) Beer
E) STD
F) Bill's wife
G) An erection lasting more than 4 hours

All often caused by lifestyle choices.

We tend to worry about the ones that don't discriminate and we have no control over.

Wouldn't that put Destiny's life in danger more than Bill's?
