We now stipulate a buck must be a "Wallhanger". So now we have about four or five skull mounted 6's and 7's but they're hanging.

We only have 100 acres just me and my son.

Whats wrong with that to make it better down the road. You can still take a few does in the mean time and cull bucks.

I get to hunt a place every year where basically zero 2.5s are killed. The result? I see a lot of antlers on the hunts. A lot.

I've been a total of three times in 4 years. I have killed 3 does and one buck off that place. It would take me 15 years to do that on NWRs the way they are not managed now.

We have a huge heard in the swamp I hunt. Problem is, no one can really access 95% of the area. I'd bet we have monsters dying of old age back there

Have wondered and maybe they do.. But why not set up air boats for deer hunting like they do mud boats for duck hunting?

A statement like that makes me wonder if some dont know what people actually sacrifice to get trophies when they acquire new property. It doesnt usually come with mature bucks walking around everywhere. Thats the whole point of management.

because its a SWAMP

this is ALL of the "dry" non-wooded land we have

ETA: looking down those lanes looks dry but its all in 1ft of water at least

Thank you. My mom took this video last night from the house. We have been high fenced 6 years now and are finally about to start killing bucks in their prime. He is on my hit list LINK

ETA: Shotty quality bc it's an iPhone video of the camcorder hooked up to the tv

Ok, stuff like that is what I want to address...

WHY THE HELL WAS THAT NOT SHOT?!

I dont want to hunt somewhere where I am so used to seeing deer that size that I dont shoot it. It takes all the fun out of hunting IMO

If you have that walking around just think about what else is there.

I could have shot this in a high fence but I didn't because A) it would cost a fortune and B) he's laying next to the tennis court!

That deer looks just like this one

That video was taken by my mom out the back door standing in the kitchen (we have a feeder and trough about 150 yards below the house so she can see stuff too when we are out hunting)...she has shot 1 javelina in her life and cried. We were all in stands. Needless to say I am going to be set up below the back deck tomorrow morning and hope he comes back out

I hunt a club like that, rule is unless it's a cull(verified as a cull by 3 or more members) then if it has nuts it has to be mounted....or you can pay the cost of a mount to the club as a fine
