Yeah the guide was quizzing me on jeep clubs and off-roading in LA..........i told him we didn't have any rocks to climb but we could put him in a mud hole and maybe some wooded trails.

Few Jeep clubs around Lafayette go up to Sicily Island La. I have customer, I do work for time to time, that has a bad arse International Scout with a '06 Tahoe engine, all Fox suspension. 40" or 38" (I Think) iroks with Hummer H1 run flats we modified for him. He's always going up to Arkansas do his wheeling.

Not all but most are. Depending on the options. You can purchase a brand new one anywhere from $45k to $57k

I have a 2013 2dr sport, maunal, no power, soft top. This is my second jeep, the pentestar motor is a great upgrade, so buy 2012 or newer - sport, rubicon personal preference, if you are planning upgrades to your jeep you can save a lot of money upfront buying a sport and mod when you can.

A wise old man told me once, as we passed a fellow working under the hood of a Jeep, "Son, if you are gonna have a Jeep you better make sure you like working on vehicles."

I don't get this. I mean, it could be true regarding some of the newer models...but the 4.0 I6 is a near bullet proof motor.

+100

The power difference in the 2011 to 2012 is a lot. Claims almost 80+ horsepower and more gas mileage.

Rubicon- Better front axle, Lockers, better gears, sway bar disc.

All stuff you can put on a sport.
It's a community you enter when buying a jeep and actually use it.

After riding in Mung's and helping him change the top a few times, owning a jeep seems, to me, to be roughly the car owning equivalent of hitting yourself in the pud with a ball peen hammer.

Here is a couple pics from the Vegas trip........the guide has all the good pics as he was taking them while guiding us up the rocks.

The whip that we drove.

This was the first "obstacle".....this is the guide in his four door going up first.

Lockers: doubt you need them
better gears: you can opt for gears as options
Elect sawy bar disc: not worth the $.

Besides the D44 up front buy a sport and upgrade yourself with better options

Depends on what type of person the OP is. DIY or pay someone. I fully agree that you can take a sport and invest a fraction of the cost difference is into the sport and have twice the capabilities than a stock rubi.
