Sounds like a terrible idea.

pretty much.

the only downside compared to the past models in the OR world is the electronics/computer/drive by wire

Very true. I put a Chevy motor in my old CJ so at least parts were easy to get and somewhat cheaper.

Seems like buying a Chevy would be smarter.

I like my Jeep a lot. That being said I had a rod go out so the dealership is putting a new motor in and doing it for free because it's covered under the power train. Problem is they did not offer me a car while they worked on it. So I've been out of a car for a month.

Those UL Rubis are like $50K+, which is silly for a Jeep. May as well get the low end model and put your own modifications on it.

As to leakage, my '11 JK 2 door leaks profusely with the soft top on, but not with the hardtop. Fortunately i put the hardtop on last week, considering these two past days of rain. No probs.

Maybe if they made a Jeep body. Chevy 350 motors in CJ bodies are pretty normal swaps.

I was in Vegas last weekend and had the chance to go rock crawling in some jeeps. I was impressed by the terrain they can cover..............couldn't do that in a truck.

That being said.........a jeep is not practical for me so I'll have to stick with my truck.

A Jeep, regardless of how new or shiny it is, will always be a Jeep.

I wouldn't take a jeep if you gave it to me. I'd hate to have to grow a goatee, wear hiking boots with shorts and ruin my back driving it. then I wouldn't feel adequate until I strapped a hi-lift jack to the front hood and a fire extinguisher to the roll bar, so I could look super duper badass.

Yeah. I hate jeeps.

bought my 07 with 32000 miles year and half ago. It now has 41000 miles. Not stacking up the miles as it is not a daily driver.

No too many rocks to be crawled in Louisiana.

Cool Story Bro moment.
Had a bunch of buddies go wheel in Leadville, CO 2 weeks back. Drove all the way up from Lafayette. Got stuck up in the mountains 2 extra days b/c of a big snow storm. Got so cold guys slept in their Jeeps. Drilled holes through the side of their rigs so they could stick mouth and nose out and not die of carbon monoxide poisoning. 9-1-1 was eventually called to have the roads clear. They made it down the mountain embarrassed and tails tucked between their legs. To add insult to injury they got charged 3k by the town for the road clearing and was the laughing stock of Leadville before they headed back

One buddy was beat to shite from the trip. Took him a whole week to recover before he returned to work. Face all red and swollen. Had lips like Angelina Jolie but all cracked and bloody.
