From what I eas tild by folks that followed the LSU Ag Center is that the bow stems are the hardest part of the build.

Fish, what gauge nails are best? 12,13,14?

I found some bronze ones online. Was going to get some 1" and some 3/4"

Hey fish,

Do the guys building a pirogue need to bring saw horses and tables?

How about the guys coming to drink, do they need to bring lawn chairs.

The ones I use are about 1/16" thick, maybe a bit more. They are used to hang sheetrock. so, look at sheetrock nails and that will be the size. 1" long is good.

My guy at Abita lumber thinks he can get it for us, working on it and I'll know more today or Monday. If he can I would be willing to pick up all and bring over by trailer. I will post up as soon as I have an answer.

Yes, if you have them., No tables needed.

If they are coming just to drink, sorry, wrong party. This will be a hands on class. Safety will come first. I'm all for a good time, but handling power tools, lets just say, things can get away. We are going to work and play, shoot the shite and enjoy the day. After all done, many drinks are game, and a Kick fire will be there.

I will have something for all that evening. Myself, I only eat most days one meal, but we can throw some meat on the pit.

Still working on the lumber as soon as I know something I will post up. I suspect I won't know before Monday.

I am coming solo and plan on building even though I have no idea what I will do with another pirogue but I feel it's hard to have too many.

If you have a fryer I'll bring about 30-50 trout filets.

It looks like you can get a gallon container of two part glue for $136 shipped from Amazon.

fish what do you think about this stuff?

Aerodux Resorcinol Resin Kit - 1 Gallon Bottle
by Spectrum
1 customer review

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Available from these sellers.

•Liquid phenol-resorcinol resin adhesive for wood
•Two-part system provides a waterproof, structural bond
•Pricing includes both resin and catalyst
•Compare to: Hexion RS-240, Hexion G-1131, DAP Resorcinol, CP-0900 Resorcinol
› See more product details
1 new from $115.00

There is also this same kit sold in a 4 gallon package that with shipping is $483

I figure 10 pirouges at a quart each will need approximately 2.5 gallons. I could leave the opened half gallon with Fish and would take the remaining gallon home for other wood projects.

If everyone wants to commit to paying me for just their share of the order (1/16th or $30 per pirouge built) I will go ahead and order and could have it shipped to fish's house.

Also for the brass ring shank 12 gauge 1" nails I can get 12 lb for $150 shipped.

So for $12.50 per pirouge I could also order these and have them shipped to fish's house.
