I am about to finally upgrade and was looking to spend about 1k. Found a sweet KC for 1100. I kinda want a pedal craft but am also thinking I need something that is versatile to handle the small rivers of the hill country to big lakes to saltwater marsh. What are y'alls thoughs?

I love mine. I have a 30lb trust trolling motor I internally wired on the boat. Wide open layout and a ton of gear track space you can set up however you want. It's light at 64 lbs and paddles better than you would think by looking at it. My biggest critique is the high sides catches wind. It's a very clean, simple fishing setup.

I'm traveling 25 days a month throughout Texas so it's going to live it's life riding around on the racks of my camper top. That is another issue for as the tracks are 40" spaced. I'm leaning toward a used a 10' slayer propel I found in Houston due to length and weight

It appears the KC rumor was a bad one. One of the owners responded in the owner's group and said they'll keep making boats and have something exciting on the way.
I encourage any KC guys here to join the FB group KC Kayak Owners Group. The more ideas and feedback the better.

If anybody is interested, I am selling my KC K12. It comes with a trolling motor and two batteries.

Well, as of yesterday I've officially joined the club. I'll be doing most of my fishing out of Shell Beach. Looking forward to the first trip soon. I still need a good PFD and a few odds and ends like a flare, whistle, and some other little trinkets. But, this thread has been a lot of fun to read.

You will also need a net, don't forget the net.

Anyone here have the Slayer Propel?

I think Alx Tiger does and really likes it.

I actually stopped using a net a few years ago when fishing out my yak. Takes up space, hooks get snagged, etc. Can't say I've lost many fish because I didn't have one. If I go bass fishing, I may bring one in case I hook into a hawg.

I have to have a net when redfishing
Posted on 8/19/17 at 10:19 am to LSUlefty
I'm going to get a net for red fishing. My father-in-law has one that is coated with some type of plastic material that doesn't get snagged by hooks as easily. I also need a better anchor. A friend suggested using a broom handle with a T bracket.

My first Cajun anchor was a broom handle. Do yourself a favor and get some pvc. Cleans a lot easier.
