Beautiful collared. I used to have a wild caught male and female.

Back when I was a kid in the 80's, I loved to go to the "snake man's" table at a local flea market. He always had a motley collection of reptiles that he'd collected/bought/stole from god knows where. I bought a few things from him but one of my favorites was a male collared lizard. They're cool little lizards. Unfortunately, the husbandry knowledge back then was poor to say the least, so mine died probably within the year. The internet has done a lot to spread husbandry knowledge. It's made keeping animals that would have just been a dream back when I was a kid a breeze nowadays.

I had a pet collared lizard when I was around 5 years old, back in the early '70s. Had a Mata-mata turtle also - that was one of the coolest pets I've ever had. My uncle was really into reptiles and had a pet shop. He was good friends with the guy who owned the snake farm in Slidell on Hwy. 90 too, so he always hooked us up with some odd critters. My dad and my brother got to hold a 26 ft. Retic (along with several other helpers) at the snake farm. We had pics, but I took them to school back then and lost them.

Pygmy rattlesnake in the Florida Panhandle a few weeks ago. The Cicada Killers were also emerging from the ground which was interesting because I hadn't heard Cicadas yet. But I did the next day.

What pet shop? I worked at Marc exotic aquatics back in the early 90s on the westbank. Best job ever...then to tropical fish bowl in lafayettes after a short stint at ocean world (closed down) and Durrells in the mall...frick the mall

I loved my mata mata...coolest turtle ever.

Corn snake under a piece of tin out beyond the backyard in the "buffer zone".

Scarlet snake found in the pool skimmer.

Found this little one year old Diamondback while out for a springtime walk in the woods near the house. Yeah, took a couple of pics and released.

Great variety. I've never seen a Diamondback in Louisiana. Where are you located?

GRIZZ, I'm in the Florida Panhandle north of Destin and 15 miles or so south of the Alabama state line. Not too many Diamondbacks left with the disappearance of the gopher tortoise. Where did you find that Diamondback Terrapin? Not Prairieville?

Grand Isle. I saw her crossing the road at Elmer's Island. I snapped a few photos then released her.

Go west. North of Milton, there's a fair number of gophers.

Had a teacher in middle school tell me that there were only 50 Gophers left in the state.

We went out yesterday, but didn't find much that wanted to be photographed. My daughter did manage to snag a couple of friendly skinks.

I'm going to spend a couple of days in the Bankhead NF/Sipsey Wilderness area in early June. Hopefully, I can get some good photos. But, until then, here's another photo of my pet to bump the thread.

In my 50 years and countless hours scouring the woods, I have never seen a baby box turtle. I was starting to think they were just born as adults.
