I found the turtle, but I missed reading his line saying what was in the pic so I was looking for a snake.

I was playing "find the wildlife" with the turtle.

My daughter brought home this little midland water snake to show me. The salamander is, unfortunately, the meal he spat out.

Saw a pretty canebrake today. Was crawling to the top of a hill to get set up on a turkey and he was about 15-20 ft to my side laying alongside a log. 30 minutes later when the turkey was done flopping i went back to look for him but he was gone.

I didn't tell the guy crawling behind me about the snake until later. I was afraid he'd freak out and spook the turkey.

I keep expecting to see a timber rattler myself this turkey season, but it hasn't happened. I've been hunting in what is probably N. AL's largest population of them. Them and the turkeys are both eluding me.

This is a pretty awesome thread! If it keeps going I'll have to contribute this summer. I am constantly relocating snakes to keep them away from tourists.

Last year I moved 6 pygmy rattlers, 2 timbers and countless coppers. Coolest thing I saw was a speckled king eating a pygmy and a clutch of rat snakes hatching. Those little suckers come right out of the egg striking at anything that moves..even each other!

At first site thats what I almost always think when I see a heavy dark snake around water. But I am thinking yellow belly water snake basses on white markings on lower jaw.

You never answered my question about your yard. Do you do the treatment yourself or do you have someone. I fired trugreen yesterday. Thanks.
