Post some picture of the boat and let us know how it handles the passes in Venice. I've been keeping an eye on them and they look to be a hell of a nice skiff for the money.

I know where there is a 2015 fury for sale. Less than 10 hours on the 60hp zuke. Skip the 6 month wait and have that bitch by the weekend.

Black Marlin on the flats (yes, you read that right) in Australia.

Freaking nuts.

Lots of other vids from Frasier Island out there as well. I might have a new bucket list trip.

Anyone have any input on fly fishing for bass in the rain? I was planning on doing some fishing this weekend but the weather stinks. I have lots of bass flies, but just wondering which ones would be best for rainy weather.

As far as flys go, I usually just switch colors to something brighter since the water will be getting muddy. I've caught bass on the usual clousers, buggers, crayfish type flies in the rain. I usually grab a nearnuff first but don't really have any particular reason for that. Be careful in DFW this weekend, this is A LOT of rain and the water will rise quickly.

Yep. Figured I may as well be irresponsible while I still can.

@Barf, I don't know that I'd ever buy someone else's custom boat.

Good for you. I couldn't imagine buying a 30k+ boat right out of college.

I don't blame you, but I don't know that I would call his custom. It was just like every other fury I've ever seen. It does have Livorsi controls and wrapped steering wheel, I guess that counts for something. The trailer tongue weight is something stupid like 230 pounds, that's about the only odd things about the boat.

edit- If anyone is interested in a skiff I know someone who is building a new hull and will be selling his Ankona SUV hull pretty soon. That SUV is basically a two man kayak that does 30 mph.

Got out to the river, prime steelhead season isn't in yet but I did manage to catch 3 of them. Was pretty down about it so I was thinking about going home early, but decided on another spot for one last ditch effort. Had a nice surprise when I got there as I landed 2 coho salmon. I didn't expect them this late in season.

Anyone else fishing still?

I thought about going trout fishing today but this time of year my focus shifts to ducks.

Sweet photo

Nice! Not the best fishing weather here today, but I did manage to nearly finish my first rod build, a belated birthday present for my dad, so I at least got something fly fishing related in.

My bad, Haven't checked in in a while. Goddamn it was windy that weekend, Only had one good afternoon of winds less than 10. The rest of the trip was 20-25 sustained. Got my personal biggest red on fly and a couple other nice ones. Overall it was a good trip just didn't get into the same numbers we have in years past..

Barf you were asking about the Cayo, it is a nice looking little boat. Really dry even in slight chop for a flats boat. Only complaint is that with any wind over 15 MPH it seems that when I'm up on the poling platform it tries to track directly in the wind. Hard as hell to keep it straight when not going into the wind. Handled the passes just fine, had a 30 on the back and we were cruising at least 25mph. Overall It is an awesome boat but just have to figure out the tracking issue when on the pole, might be a weight distribution thing.

I'll upload some pics later

That is a very well finished little boat. I have been looking hard at moving into a cayo or possibly one of the Harry Spear hulls. Might as well sell the whipray while before the hells bay bubble bursts.

It's interesting that it tracked poorly in heavy wind considering it has fairly significant poling strakes. My whipray spins around like a top when the wind gets up around 20mph so maybe it has less to do with hull design and more to do with just being a lightweight boat in a stiff wind. Even my friends Vantage poles like shite when it starts getting windy.
