No shite. I was watching a sow and cubs, and they disappeared. Thought that was over and was checking out the salmon when all of a sudden dozens of terrified sockeye came flying down the creek, so I knew a bear was coming. Just didn't know how fast. Holy crap that sow was after a male who got too close to the cubs.

Cubs

Sow

There is no way you could fire a round if one decided to charge from that range. I was shocked at how quickly she came out of the brush and was right there.

Subway and coca cola. No liquor tonight, drank too much beer earlier while overhauling an outboard.

This time of year, probably 70% of the time.

Situation is unique here in that the salmon spawn within a mile or so of tidewater. Sometimes literally yards. SO you have thousands of salmon congregated on a very short stretch of stream. It's just too much temptation for these bears.

Forest ranger said there were at least 17 in the area we were today. It's almost impossible not to find one.

Much better. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my last radiation. Finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully I'll be able to eat some soft foods again in another week or so.
