Tent Camping -Palmetto Island in Abbeville

Taking my 4 year old daughter and wife tent camping at Palmetto State park in early November. Let me know what I am missing.
Tent
Tarp for under tent to stop moisture
airbeds, sleeping bags, pillows and blankets
tailgating tent canopy to sit under if not much shade
Lanterns, propane stove, plenty propane
chairs
wood for fire ring
flashlights, spotlight for fun, head lamps
food and water
games/toys for 4 yr old
bikes
Feel free to add anything I may have missed.

This is the kind of answer I was looking for. Tarp is definitly smaller then tent. Good call on towels soap and shampoo for comfort station. Was planning on roughing it and no baths for the weekend. Definitly a yes on the charcoal and steaks (food).

If it's the first tent camping trip for both of them, I'd just stay in the campground.
They have tent pads, BBQ grills, running water, and the comfort station close by.
Try the primitive sites on the next trip.

rope / paracord of some kind.
TP in a waterproof container or bag.
Plenty of water for washing hands and dishes, or a container if water is on site. a tub for washing dishes in plus a mesh back to hang them in to dry is nice.
I usually take a tarp and 1 or 2 extendable poles plus some rope and a tree or two make an awning over the picnic table.
a lantern hanger you can strap to a post or tree to get it up off of the table is nice to have.

First real camping trip for daughter. We have done the backyard thing a few times. Wife has been tenting with me plenty. Not really worried about her. More concerned with what I am forgetting for my daughter. yes we are definitly staying in a campground spot, not primitive.

Should I really be worried with hogs and bears in Palmetto State Park? Do I need to bear bag my food? Serious question. I have camped probably 100 times at Chicot in tents and never once worried about bears or hogs, just the coons digging thru everything.

I tent camp a lot with my wife and daughter. I string some Christmas lights across the front of tent outside. I find it makes just enough light to see around and made my daughter feel at ease at night( kinda like a night light). I know it's defeating the purpose but we have a small tv with built in DVD player. Especially when my daughter was younger it helped break up the day for her. We lay in tent at night and watch a movie before going to sleep. We don't use it a lot but it can help her feel better about camping. I actually use a tarp bigger than my tent to have a " porch" to walk on in front of tent. I just make sure it slopes away from tent ( we usually go to Chicot so sloping ground is usually not a problem). I make sure we are always in a spot near the bathhouse but bring a seat that snaps on 5 gal bucket so trip to bathhouse isn't necessary in middle of night. I try not to go when it's going to rain. And only go when it's cool/ cold. Sweating in a hot tent with Mosquitos ain't our thing.

We plan on bringing the IPAD and dvd player for downtime and bedtime. Lights are a great idea. I'll probably get a string of LED lights. My daughter is used to having a noise maker so i will probably bring a fan or something that makes a continous noise. Def going when cool.
