Looking at a 4-Door with the 5.3 V8. It's a base model from 2014. Its got less than 40,000 miles. Is there anything quirky about the engine or the vehicle in general? Any owners out there that can give me some real world reviews?

I have a 2014 with 120000 miles. Only problem I have had so far is a cracked condenser two months ago.

Chevrolet is French for rattling plastic panels.

I had one for about a year. I bought from a stepson. About 5000 miles after the warranty went out the engine light came on.
Had it checked:
Fuel tank vent solenoid was going out. The dealership wanted $750 plus the computer check cost of $50. I asked what The solenoid did. Was told if it went out, I couldn't put fuel in the tank. Have a mechanic friend, he changed it for $400. A day later the light came in again. My son checked on it and that code has a more than 50 % incorrect reading history.
Someone convince me Chevy doesn't know this. I went back to Honda when the new ones came out.
No BS repairs there.

The new LT motors are a bit more complex than the older LS motors but are much quieter with the direct injection. I like the compactness and ease of servicing a pushrod V8 but I get that most people don't service their own vehicles like I do.

Love my 2010 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 but it's the older LS-type V8.

I will say my brother has enjoyed his 2014 the past few years. He had a couple small issues like the seat heater on the driver's side sucked and the AC compressor locked up and ate a belt. But both were covered under warranty and overall it rides much quieter and better than the older generation. You can immediately tell the improvements when you get in the cabin.

The only problem I've with mine is the transmission has started to shift very very hard and is rough on inclines. Have about 10,000 miles left on the warranty, definitely going to get it looked at before it runs out. Other than that it is a great truck. Much more refined than past chevy models and the 5.3 smallblock provides plenty of speed and power

I had a 2015, now I have a 2017. Nice trucks, ride good, quiet, but if you are gonna pull very much, go elsewhere, they wouldnt pull a greased dick out of a lard bucket.

Had them since '90, held up well with most everything. Seems the newer they are the more issues, or so I've seen.

The only thing in common with Chevrolet and tornadoes are trailer parks.

Been having one since 2004 (2 different trucks). This last one has given me trouble with the oil pressure sensor. After having it changed 4-5 times by 3 different mechanics/parts changers in a 3 year span, I finally had a guy figure out that the oil I was putting in was the cause. I have to use Dextrose oil or it will cause the failure and an annoying signal the entire time I'm driving.

If you do any type of off road, Front ends go out in about 4 years and will need to be replaced in these trucks. Kinda BS if you ask me.

For the first time in 27 years, I'm headed to try another brand....probably Toyota 4 runner for me this time

Don't buy any GM's 08-13. Plan on replacing everything at 100k.

I had Chevrolets all my life and after pretty much rebuilding an 09 5.3 with the AFM I switched to Toyota.

Mine is quite a bit older than that (2005), but it sounds similar and I can tell you that it has been flawless....then only thing I had to do was change the gas cap.

Had a 2010 silverado ltz
And then a 2014 silverado ltz (just traded in last week for a 2017 sierra.

Silverado was flawless. Drove like a dream, great gas mileage for a pickup, had 85k miles at time of trade in and had absolutely zero issues.

I had a 02 Silverado that a drunk driver totaled for me a year and a half ago. Overall it was a solid truck. I had no real issues. I was putting about 10K per year, so not a ton of miles, but it was a good truck and I miss it.

Bought a F150 when I replaced it. I did drive the silverados, and they were cheaper than the Ford, but I decided I wanted to try another brand.

I had an 04 I sold in 14 with 160k miles on it and the engine purred the same as the day I bought it. The interior was pristine and held up well.

I'm sure the kid I sold it to still has it.

Regular maintenance and not a single major issue. Replaced the water pump and the cadalytic converters around 100k miles.

I'm currently running an 02 model that I just flipped 70k on. Again, no issues.
