Wednesday afternoon I went with a buddy to drop off some shrimp to his farmer for buffaloing a pond for teal season. We rode around Thornwell after that and saw 150-200 teal flying that afternoon. I feel certain there were more but the weeds on the levees was just too high to see over.

Last night I had dinner with a young fella who guides for Cameron Meadows down in Johnson Bayou and he said the teal have been stacked up for the last week in the freshwater marshes. Tons of Widgeon Grass and Duck weed. I'll be helping a friend brush a blind in Johnson Bayou on Sunday morning and I'll report back on any sightings, as his marsh is brackish.

After having such a poor teal season last year and seeing those teal ducks already down this week, I think it will be much better this year.

Has anyone else seen any teal ducks so far this year?

Here's to a great teal season.

Will hopefully go look at some rice fields this afternoon near Lacassine. I'll report back.

I was in Johnson Bayou Wednesday. There are a bunch of teal in the area, but all of the rain last week has them moving around a bit.

If anyone has ever seen my house or my truck, you'd know I am in no position to call anyone white trash.

I just love calling him that because it gets a rise out of him and he hates it.

I heard of some teal birds down around Little Chenier. Should be a good season!

Bunch of the teal ducks with the blue paint scheme in our freshly flooded rice fields west of Kaplan.

Should make for a fun quick hunt next Saturday should they stick around.
