Taurus PT111 9mm for $179 daily deal at DEGuns

Just thought I'd share this deal with you guys if any of y'all are looking for a cheap backup gun. I know it's a Taurus, but I have this gun (use as a backup to my G19) and it has been excellent and nothing like the first generation models. No FTF, no FTE, no stovepipes whatsoever. Really accurate for a compact and has a nice trigger. Trigger is a long DOA first pull, but a short sweet SA on follow-ups. It's design is based off the Glock and while it isn't a Glock, this is a heal of a deal. When I bought it on sale for $199 I thought that was just about the lowest I'd ever see it at.

And no, it's not my website for any of you smartasses

some people say it'll make a good anchor or paper weight.

That would be a hi-point, which this one is nothing like.

That's what I was trying to explain, that this model is actually a pretty nice gun, especially at that price.

Real talk, never a bad idea to have a disposable handgun ready to rectify a situation. If you or yours is wronged then it will already be too late to go out and purchase a piece and leave a trail. And don't think "oh nothing will ever happen to me to put me in a situation like that". Maybe, but if something does happen you will be wishing you'd been prepared.

They are a pretty good little gun. I bought one last year in stainless when academy had a deal on them.

I've got an m&p 40 I bought a few years ago and when leaving the house I will pick up either one is handiest without hesitation.

That price is pretty good, but 30 shipping plus 20 transfer at an Ffl dealer puts it close to a stainless at academy.

Are used to own one, but I could never shoot it as well as I can my Glock 19.

Unless you're eligible for the class action suit. Then the pistol might have some value.
Taurus Millennium Recall

I don't doubt that the OP has a good one. But the odds of getting a "good one" when you buy one off the shelf are distinctly lower than what you can expect if you buy a quality pistol.

I understand that the OP discusses this in terms of a BUG. But BUGS are typically carried for self-defense. A lot of trainers (notably Clint Smith) point out that if you end up in a situation where you need your BUG, you'll be in some really deep poop -- and you'll really need a dependable gun.

Don't the M&P Shields still have a rebate ?
