I was cleaning fish a little while ago and noticed that we had caught a 2016 CCA tagged Speck! Unfortunately, no one in the boat with me was registered. I guess I missed out on a $2,500 prize package, but it's still a cool accomplishment.

Dang, that sucks. . .
Where'd you end up catching it?

It's too late to register?

Not too late- tournament ends Labor Day- but it is too late for the OP to claim the fish, as you must be registered at the time of the catch!

Man. That's why you never sniff salt water without being registered for the STAR.

We caught two limits of reds today and no tagged ones. It's a scam, brah.
Yes I'm registered. I just do it to donate to CCA in hope that it helps something.
My GPS map showed me well onto green land today, but we were fishing in open water/broken marsh. Our SELA marshland is disappearing in many areas. I wish I could do more to save the coast for my grandkids generation, but am not sure what that is yet......
GEAUX Tigers.

That's a sure fire way to find fish

I talked with CCA this morning and the fish we caught was the first CCA tagged speckled trout ever harvested. They are trying to get sponsors to make the trout category work the same as the redfish. I screwed the pooch pretty bad by not being a member, but lesson learned!

How would that work if no one on the boat knew who caught it? I bet you would have been screwed either way.
Not surprising it was the first one ever harvested. Those tags are way too big. Everyone and their mother needs to stop tagging them or use smaller tags.

It's not the first ever harvested. Maybe the first this year but I know a few were harvested last year by unregistered anglers.

Believe it or not quite a few don't register because of CCA. Just stating facts.

The CCA representative told me that this was the first year for the tagged speckled trout category and that this was the first fish that has been called in.

Look up the name Kevin Hayes. What does he do?? Lobbyist for CCA and also for the Louisiana Land Owners Association. Yep the same group that wants to take away your rights to fish certain areas.
