It's a Wilson can. Yeah, it may even be quieter than the HMR. I've never shot them at the same time. Just a guestimate on the noise level.

Shot a 22 pistol and a 22 short barreled rifle with suppressers. Wasn't as quiet as I thought it would be. Wasn't shooting subsonic ammo though. It was about the level of a 22 cb cap out of a rifle.

Works a lot better when you aren't breaking the sound barrier because you don't have the sonic crack and the suppressor muffles that initial blast.
I agree.
There are 3 major sources of sound from shooting a rifle or pistol.
1. The muzzle blast (the one that the shooter is affected by the most)
2. The sound of the action (the quietest portion)
3. The sonic boom from a supersonic round (is still quite loud but doesn't affect the shooter as much as muzzle blast)
A suppressor is designed to decrease the sound of the muzzle blast.
So like they stated, the faster the round is, the less the effectiveness of the suppressor.
300blk with subsonic rounds is SUPER quiet. Lower velocity 22lr rounds are SUPER quiet. But, a 223 is quieter, as is a 308 and any other supersonic round. The faster it goes, the less effective the suppressor.
There may be some more specifics I'm leaving out but that is it in the most basic sense.

Know a guy that had a.22LR with homeade silencer. All u heard was the reloading action. Was amazing.
I asked him if he could get the guy make another. Builder passed away and the guy lost his weapon. Sad all around.

ou sure about that? Silencers mean silent I thought???
Regular load 5.56/.223 is still quite loud. You can get or load subsonic 5.56/.223 and it's much quieter, but normal loads you will still hear the sonic crack.

I've fired a suppressed .22 and could only hear the action. May pick one up for the fun of it.
Friend of mine had an AAC integrally suppressed Browning Buckmark. Quite literally all you could hear was the slide moving.
As quiet as a weak BB gun, and fun as all hell to shoot.
