Lost my sunglasses. Gonna replace with a pair of Costas (Jose specifically). Does the OB recommend polycarbonate or glass lenses?

What are the pros and cons of each?

I'm buying poly next time. Just as clear and half the weight of glass lenses

Glass is the better lens, but it does add weight.

Is that really a concern? We aren't taking much weight. Perhaps you need these guys to help you out...

Pro: Harder to Scratch
Con: Heavier - not that it really matters

I have the poly costa lenses. I'm rough on my sunglasses and they held up really well. They're durable and a bit cheaper. Next time, I'm definitely getting the glass lenses. Your eyes can be seen in heavy sunlight with the poly. That's a no no when it comes to checking out barely legal chicks on the beach. Other than that, no drawbacks I have noticed. Maybe a bit less fashionable

Forgot to say when it comes to colors:

Amber for freshwater and inshore
Grey for offshore.

Plastic scratches too much. Now I always go polarized glass.

if your getting costas avoid pairs with rubber on the frames. It will eventually come off.
