I shot a 165lb hog with Barnes 150 gr TSXFN, she ran maybe 20yds. For some reason that gun doesn't like that bullet anymore. I still shoot the Barnes TSX my 30-06 and 35 Whelen.
I will start loading my own in those two next year.

I don't know how common they are, but if you can find 130 grain nosler accubonds i would recommend those. My .270 xbolt loves them. Every accubond I have harvested an animal with has hit with the force of a Mack truck. The 140 grain from my 7mm mag would be a force of nature if they weren't man made.

Another vote for Hornady 140 grain Interlock (think it's now a Whitetail version). It patterns great in my Remington 700 and you don't lose deer.

For some reason there is a lot of hate or maybe disapproval of the ballistic tip. But as I said in a previous post, I have been shooting federal premium ballistic tips for now on 20 years and have yet to find a more devastating round. Shoot 150's in my '06 and 180's in my 300 RUM and have had great success. If your looking for accuracy and devastating wounds followed by a very quick dirt nap then I would definitely give them a try.

Shot a doe in the neck at 200 yds with a 130 gr ballistic tip from my .270. Damn near severed the neck making a soft ball sized hole and nothing more than skin and a bit of neck meat holding it together after.

Many people have had bad experiences with ballistic tips, myself included.

NOSLER ACCUBOND hands down the best bullet for 270. I have shot just about everything out there over the last 27 years with mine. This bullet is far superior to anything else on the market.

I'm considering using them in my 270 when I start hand loading.

Same here. And i know many others as well.

Ballistic tips are all or nothing. Either DRT or runs a mile with zero blood trail because the bullet did not exit.

I can't deal with a non-exiting bullet. Thats a no go for me.

Same here. Consistent exits is probably my biggest requirement.

I like exits and I've had problems with corelokts not exiting lately. That's why I was thinking about switching.

I shot a doe 2 weeks ago slightly quartered facing me. Bullet went through the shoulder and went the length of the deer. Bullet didn't come out but was in the skin at the arse. No hind quarters messed up.

Bad thing was she ran 65 yards with not a speck of blood or hair. It would have taken me a while to find her in that thicket but a dog found her quick. It's one of the best bullets on the market.

I don't shoot a 270wsm but after getting advice on this board I bought Barnes 165 grain TTSX for my 300 win mag. Shot a hog a week ago and it was dead before it hit the ground. Saw one leg move a little twice.

The only way you'll consistently get an exit on a shot like that is either a really big caliber with tough bullets or solids. Deer aren't tough by any means but there's a bunch to em if you try to go long ways through the tough stuff

I reload all my ammo, but have good results with a nosler accubond. Sierra boat tails have been equally effective. Before reloading I shot a lot deer with BTs. A LOT of deer. Never had a problem. Zero.
