I didn't like the idea either. But I checked with all my neighbors to see if they were OK. They were. Truthfully, I have had a lot of fun doing it.

I learned something though. I talked to a LDWF agent at the sportsman show. He told me if they are a nuisance I could get a permit, but I couldn't use a fire arm since I live in the city limits. I have now switched to a .177 air gun rather than the .22 shorts and will go get a permit tomorrow. (I'll take my chances today)

Still holding at Vol Fan-8 Mr Bushy Tail-0. Now I am back from the show the hunt continues!

This fall the P-can tree in my back yard was loaded with p-cans,and tree rats. I shot 38 from my back deck. You must boil them before frying or you will lose some teeth. But all is well.

You could try using elevated 110 conibear traps to get them when you don't have the time. Shooting them is more fun but if you want to wipe them out it will help. Let me know if interested and I can give more info on how to do it.

My Dad declared war on the tree rats in his backyard (SBR) years ago as they decimated his garden and fruit and nut trees. He said he lost count in the 700+ range, most taken down with a Crossman 760. Several years ago I bought him a Gamo Big Cat crackbarrel pellet rifle and took it to the lease and sighted it in, finding which pellet shot best, and he's been really knocking them down. He said he can always tell when there's a new hatch-they don't know better than to stay in his front yard.

You've been a good son, and a respectable young man. Although, it has been quite some time since you came and visited me.. I know that job takes up most of your time, but, I have moved to Nawf Louisiana.. The squirrels are much bigger and smarter up here and the pellet gun just ain't cutting it.. I would like to move up to one of those Browning Citoris to try on these critters up here..

Oh, I know. I did however have to drive through Bawcomville in the middle of that storm. Nothing like stradling of what you believe to be the centerline of 34 when you can't see the yellow lines because the water is about 6" to 8" deep.

Damnit, I can't get a nuisance permit. They told me to wait till the May season to kill those terrorists. (The irony in this is if a human were tearing up my house I could legally shoot that person. A squirrel on the other hand, I can't legally do it.)

To trap and transport them, I have to have written permission from a land owner saying its cool for me to dump them on their property. I asked about state land or on the levees - nope, can't do that either.

I just hate to purposely disobey the law, but these monsters are costing me a great deal of money. The jihad continues!!!!

We trapped and let go a shitload from my yard when I was younger. A cop stopped once to see what was up when we were letting it go. Just in some random woods on the side of the road. He helped us and let us go on our way. I had no idea it was illegal
