The girlfriend has taken a liking to hunting and although she shoots my .410 pump well, it’s a little heavy for her. Do y’all think a single shot .410 would be sufficient. I want her to enjoy hunting so is there a better option that I’m over looking?

Is it the weight of the gun or the length of the gun? Sometimes the length is worse than the weight,

I have a youth model single shot 410 that is both light, smaller frame and has a nice recoil pad. That’s what you’re looking for.

Get her a gym membership if she can't handle a little .410.

I bought my son a 20 ga 870 youth for his first gun and that sucker kicked like a mule. That waa 15-20 years ago. I have 12 870 that he started shooting instead. I don’t know what the deal was.

Tell her to shoot the squirrels with a 22!!!

The Rossi Circuit Judge looks like a good small squirrel .410 shotgun. The new season of meat eater has a squirrel hunting on mules episode where they use

youth model 20 gauge. .410 is the perfect squirrel gun, but the 20 will have more practical use if she wants to go duck hunting, or possibly turkey hunting, or do any other kind hunting.

ETA: holy typo But as for the earlier post about the youth 870 20 kicking like a mule, I got mine when I was maybe 7 or 8 and never had an issue with it kicking hard. But it does have a short barrel so idk maybe it's just a subjective thing. The short barrel is loud though lol.

Benelli Montefeltro 20 gauge with compact stock

Buy it for yourself and and let her shoot it until you figure if she is the one or not

The weight is her friend in terms of recoil. Light youth size 20’s can pack a wallop.

Try her out on a 10/22 with a little rimfire scope and see if she can hit a golf ball at 25 and/or 50 yards. If so, there's your answer. If you really loved her you'd buy her a suppressor for it and some subsonic ammo for it, too, so the other squirrels don't know there's a sniper assassin in their midst.

Plus, they're just a goddamned blast. My suppressed 10/22 is 100% the most fun to shoot weapon I own, which is good news because I don't feel poor after slinging 200 rounds out of it plinking.

It’s the weight. She handles the length okay as it’s not a long barrel.

I like this idea as she wants me to learn to turkey hunt with her also.

I’m 200lbs and after walking the swamp on a hot and muggy day, I don’t wanna carry the .410 pump anymore than I have to.
