Nope, they stopped making it with at least 12 year old juice last year. Now it is made with a blend of bourbons from 8-12 years in age. Still not a bad pour, but not what it was. I have a number of of the old bottles stacked away...

Their barrel picks come and go, any of the barrel pics should be EC12. They have good barrel picks, so does Calandros

Well neither is JD, but he never called it a bourbon, and he asked for whiskey/whisky rec's.

Knob Creek was my goto, everyday bourbon for a while, haven't had it in a while. I really like Wild Turkey 81 lately as a cheap bottle.

Willett Potstill Reserve is my favorite for the price and it's about $35-$40. Eagle Rare is close behind it at just under $30.

My two favorites are Wild Turkey Forgiven which is a bourbon/rye blend and Michter's Small Batch Bourbon, which is hard to find.

Knob creek or Makers for standard shut that's available.

Blantons when you can find it.

The Balvenie is a hell of a scotch. Smooth like buttah.

Daily drinker, Jim beam
"Bang for your buck"- beam black label
Special occasion - smooth ambler's Old Scout Single Barrel. Unreal how good it is. Always been a bookers guy, but received a bottle as a gift and I have never had anything close to being as good.

For anyone interested there is a bourbon thread on the food board that is on its second thread and has been ongoing since 2012. If anyone has questions on bourbons/ whiskeys or they want to post their drink for the evening, you are welcome to join.

I hear ya!

Thanks everyone for the responses. Jotted a few down. Got some blanton's and double oak woodford reserve on the way.

I haven't had a drink since October 29th or 30th and probably won't be able to have any for a couple more months due to another surgery coming up maybe week after next. It's gonna be a celebration when I can and I want something good to drink.
