I know the location plays a big factor but let's assume La. Mixed hardoods and pine.

What does the OB consider to be enough acreage that you could fence but still maintain somewhat of a "in the wild" feel.

South Georgia swamp/pine hardwood mix with palmettos hog hunting pay spot has 500 and it seems vast.

50,000-60,000 should be the minimum legally allowed. Also no hunting within 1 mile of the fence perimeter

250 min- you don't see everything all the time, but it feels fenced in.

500 is big enough to feel a little wild.

750+ Is plenty wild

I've been in pens as small as 250 all the way to 50,000 (Swaziland). If you can swing 1500, it's really something.

0 is the only acceptable answer, unless you're calling it a zoo.

At least a square mile (640 acres), assuming its good habitat that could sustain a decent sized herd. If it's poor habitat; fugetaboutit.

Well all of the deer are contained on this planet, so the number has to be somewhere south of that.

Didn't know much about high fences, but hunted my Uncles land in Siegen once and they were all around, except for abutting his property.
Makes me wonder now if him being a LEO might have been the reason.
Anyone know the rules?

I think there is a percentage you have to leave open of a neighbor. For example if you surround a neighbor except for a small strip, you can't enclose him.

Well i hunt 5500 acres. North neighbor has high fence and the other 3 sides are pasture so the deer wont leave our property. Whats the difference btwn that and high fence? Nada.

So if I built an island in the middle of the Mississippi River it would be acceptable? Because if you yahoos don't think the water around places like Giles don't act like a high fence you're crazy.

Don't believe that, I've seen deer walk across a Fabrication yard in the middle of Houma. If they horny or hungry they going to travel.

My ex in laws lived on an island about a 15 min ferry ride from land and yet the island was full of deer. All inbred of course. Yes, deer can swim and can swim long distances.
