I just went to Wal Mart and surprisingly they had a full shelf of 22lr with a no box limit. So I bought the entire shelf. The guy behind me wanted one brick and he was pissed I emptied the store out. To bad. You snooze....you lose. I chuckled as I walked by him with my bag full of 22lr ammo. I need help storing my collection now. Thank goodness for this thread.

Which is quite an accomplishment for such a cold-hearted aggregation.

None of the suggestions on this thread work for 22LR ammo. It HAS to be shot w/in a year from purchase!

I'm still shootin' some high brass 5's & 6's that have $3.49 marked on the box. I bought them from a KMart, before they went out of business at that location, in the 70's..

My kinda guy! Are the hulls plastic or paper??

I still have 16ga shells that are from the 70's

They still shoot and look fine. Unless something has changed with ammo,
I'm sure storing it anywhere indoors will keep it for 40 or 50 years.

I just store my loaded ammo in metal ammo cans lined in duct tape. The metal on the inside was scratching the shite out of the cases.

I shoot pretty often and haven't put any ammo into long term storage so I haven't needed to worry about moisture or anything. But I think in my next batch of loads I may do some SHTF ammo. I really like the food saver bag idea.

If my goal was very long term ammo storage, I would keep it in vacuum bags with dessicant and repack every 10 years or so.

I'm not sure about the duct tape thing. It may not get along with brass, but I don't know that for a fact. Just guessing.

The 12's are plastic, the 10's from the 50's & 60's are paper..

I don't have any that lasts long enough to worry about storing it. I buy it to shoot not decorate my gun safe or the wife's closet.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!
Hunter S. Thompson

With no boolits left!!!
