I am thinking climate controlled is preferable. Place dessicant in metal ammo cans?

I store it in my underground bunker, next to my gas mask, six months provisions, and my NRA membership card. After the Obama takeover, when we emerge all across the land, the NRA card will separate the hunters from the hunted.

Vacuum sealed food saver bags, and large diameter PVC pipe with end caps.

Been doing this for years. That food saver was the best thing the wife ever bought for herself. I like to throw in one or two of those silica packets that you find in medicine bottles just to absorb any remaining moisture that might be stuck in there.

ETA: I usually just do this to keep the rounds consistent from one trip to the range to the next. A few months with the wrong climate might not make the ammo non-functional, but I've seen it throw accuracy off enough to notice.

I normally take what I am going to store for later out of the manufacturers box and put it in a Ziploc bag with the little desiccant packs. Then put them in an ammo box metal or plastic. I don't hoard anything, just making sure to take care of what I do have.

I usually do the same thing with empty brass after I have cleaned/dried it. When I don't have time to reload right away.

I've never had a problem with corrosion myself, I just hate to see money wasted when it is preventable.

I just store my loaded ammo and powder in a closet in the house. The closet is now temperature controlled, but for years it wasn't. For years I've stored primers in an outside storage building, and although I never had any problems, I've moved them inside so. I can count on 1 hand the number of corroded rounds I've had through the years and all were due to a bad batch of powder. I've never used dessicants nor airtight bags. Some of my loaded ammo is 20 yrs old and still functions just fine.

I'm still shootin' some high brass 5's & 6's that have $3.49 marked on the box. I bought them from a KMart, before they went out of business at that location, in the 70's..

Weird. It seems to be gone now. It was in the thread with the guy who was on the beach. His koozie was in a folding chair. I posted mine too. Then gone now.
