Idk what is more amazing. The fact that she took a flight that far off shore or the part where she flew over MS and then Baton Rouge to do it?!

This is awesome!!!

Thanks for sharing OP!

It's a facebook post from a photographer who took the pic. Then a guide posted the pic of the story/details he got from a LDWF guy.

That's awesome. Sounds like she may have stopped on Otis2's lease between Bonita and Oak Grove.

That is awesome and absolutely mind boggling. It's drives me bananas trying to predict bird movements; I guess there's a good reason.

Y'all need to plug into the goose hunting loop.

I started joining different facebook groups. Texas Goose Hunting Past and Present is a good one. Specklebelly Goose Callers is another good one.

I created a group called Louisiana Goose Hunters, but it hasn't taken off yet. We got about 10 members, but I'm the omly one who posts anything in it.

Don't make me pull your card. I'm the admin.

I've been debating posting about it here, because you irl me. But, what the hell.

Eta: fwiw, those other groups I mentioned are legit. We'll get there one day.

That's pretty neat. Doesn't surprise me that much on the northward flight - pintails and other birds previously have been tracked moving from South LA marsh to Southeast Arkansas rice fields. The movement over the gulf is something I never would have considered, especially from a speck. I do know where 15 years ago we would kill a few specks a season in SE Arkansas I know of blinds that kill upwards of 150+ a season now on top of their ducks. They have followed the rice.

Very true.

I started out as a kid going to El Campo and Eagle Lake, TX with my dad. Then in the 90's we started hunting geese in SWLA more. The past few years all of my goose hunts have been in NELA. Right where the speck flew over before it got to the Oak Grove and Bonita area.

The crew I hunt with is now going to Arkansas for the conservation hunts.

Friend of mine shot a mallard a few years back who had a GPS backpack on. He sent it in and they sent him a replica for the mount. She was flying from Avoyelles to Stuttgart daily for two weeks before she was shot.
